Likes

The campus life in manipal is one of the best in the country
All amenities are available on campus, whether it's for shopping, gym, swimming pool, library etc.
Even though we have a massive campus moving around is made much easier with the college provided buggy system

Dislikes

My college in particular has a lack of air conditioning which is a real problem in the heat of manipal.
MSAP is quite distant and separate from the rest of campus making transport time quite a problem.
The food available in the canteens on campus are not that great.

Course Curriculum Overview

Interior design offered quite a few academic aspects which can also be applied in other courses. The curriculum is quite tough as compared to other courses but it being so helps in the real world where the work we have to put in ks quite alot.

Fees and Financial Aid

Manipal college fees are quite expensive as compared to other colleges. For my interior design course there is a yearly tuition fees of 2.7 lakhs not including other fees. Hostel fees is quite high and most prefer to move out after their first year of compulsory hostel.

Campus Life

Campus life is fantastic with students coming in from all over the country. Manipal is also quite a small city so everyone knows everyone. The MAHE clubs are known all over the country and are quite well reputed.

Admission

For MSAP and interior design course they check your uceed scores and based on that mark you eligible or not to appear for their own entrance exams and interviews. The process is quite straightforward and simple as compared to other colleges.

Faculty

It's quite a mixed bag, as some of our faculty are quite young while some are much older and have been at our college for much longer. The faculty to student ratio is quite good as my batch on a whole is 26 students. And the faculty are quite approachable before and after college hours.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum here feels more practical and idea driven rather than just theory based which was one of the main reasons I chose this course it focuses on design thinking creativity and real execution instead of only textbook learning One of the strongest parts is how it slowly builds your understanding from basics to advanced concepts through projects assignments and presentations this helps in preparing for real world work because you are constantly creating and improving your portfolio rather than just studying for exams The curriculum does prepare you for industry to a good extent especially in terms of creative thinking software usage and project handling but it can improve by including more updated trends real time industry briefs and collaboration with professionals which will make it even more relevant Teaching methods are mostly interactive and practical but sometimes they can include more workshops guest sessions and exposure to current market tools to enhance learning experience Exams are conducted with two internal assessments of around 40 marks each followed by a final semester exam of 70 marks theory and 30 marks practical the difficulty level is moderate if you attend classes and complete your work regularly it is manageable Overall the curriculum is strong in building creative foundation and practical skills but with a few updates and more industry exposure it can become even more effective for future careers

9-5 classes and labs are provided in college premises and exam schedules are morning and afternoon both like batchwise it's scheduled for different sections as well and internals are for 2hrs and end semesters are for 3 hours and even notes are provided during lecturesas ppts and on a software called as teams

Course Curriculum Overview:

We have really packed timings. We also have a lot of chances. Like an exchange program, internships and many chances to act or work in actual projects. I really hope they could teach us animation in the course and it would really help if the clubs are active. For every exam we have to come up with something new totally out of the box. sometimes we also have to work overtime.

Ab overview of life at NIFT Bangalore

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements after their graduation project in the 8th semester which is the 4th year. A good number of companies around 8-10 come for the campus placements. The minimum package starts from 6 lakhs and can go up to 20 lakhs per annum. Almost 70% of the students get an on campus placement. Some get an off campus placement as well. My plans after getting the degree is to pursue masters in my field.

Pretty decent college

Some other colleges I applied to are NIFT, MIT Pune and Soft Pune. My admission was confirmed for all three however after speaking to alumni from all 4, I decided that MSAP was the best fit for me. I chose this college over NIFT as NIFT was offering me admission for b.des textile design and I was not interested in perusing that course. Maybe Manipal,maybe not.

I applied to other colleges in kerala. Cat,trivandrum and avani,calicut. Both were much more amazing than MSAP comparing the infrastructure,college aesthetics,architecture vibes and as a malayali,maybe the right spot. To be eligible for this course you have to clear the NATA Exam. Application forms, application fees, and application fees can be checked on the official site of Msap.
