Likes
- The campus of our university is one of the best, I must say. We have a much big campus at the centre of Kolkata city.The area of main campus & Salt Lake Campus are almost 60 acres & 26 acres respectively. We have a much green campus.
- There is always some activities in our campus. So campus life is much good.
- The faculties are well qualified and their teaching methods are really good. Most of the faculties are very helpful. Students can take help from them and the professors are aleays there to help them.
Dislikes
- There is some deficiency in some of the laboratories' infrastructure in Physics Department. But compared to many other Indian institutions, the laboratories are much good.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose this course because it gives me the scopes and exposures that I need to fulfill many aspects of my aim. The course-curriculum here is so much research oriented so if anyone is aiming to do research in future, the course-curriculum will really help him/her a lot. Here, the gap between two semester exams is generally 4 months on average and the difficulty level of the exams is much higher than many other Indian institutions, I can say.
Internships Opportunities
There is many internship opportunities, we get in our college. There is many companies, like Tata, Exide, ONGC, Indian Oil, Intel etc. provides internships to the students. The stipend they provide is around in the range of 15000-60000/-. Students also participates in many research oriented projects.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total cost of fees of the course, BSc in physics is 4,960/-. Here, the tution fees generally doesn't increase, it's a very rare case. There are many scholarships or financial aids are available for the students. One of the name of this type of scholarships is Jadavpur University aluminium Association scholarship. There is also some campus employment.
Campus Life
The name of our annual fest is Sanskriti and the name of the tech fest is Srijan. It happens generally in the month of March-April. We have a big library, called 'Central Library'. Besides this, we also have our departmental library. We have good facilities in our classrooms. There is many clubs run by students, like mountaineering club, dance club, music club, drama club etc.
Admission
If you have passed 12th Boards Examination & secured 75%(for General students) marks in average obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, then you are eligible to apply in this course. For OBC-A/B, it's 67.5% and for SC/ST/PD/Sports Category students, it's 56.25%. The reservation benifits are as per govt. rules. The application form can be found in official website of the university. The fees for entrance exam is generally 200/-. The admission fees is 1860/-. The application publishes in the month of June.
Faculty
The faculties of our university are all well qualified. They are also very helpful and approachable to the students. The faculty-to-student ratio is a much good. All the professors try their best to give us a good learning experience. A student can always approach a professor one to one and seek help from them. They also give us a good mentorship in our journey.
