- Good lab equipment is provided with hands on experience with Industrial equipment, and also for research purpose they coperate very ell than any other college.
- The environment in VIT is very good especially, the way they care students is good, with a flexible timetable system, we can choose our class houurs .
- Good placement oppurtunities and for mechanical engineering also they come good number of Core oppurtunities with a good package.
Dislikes
- The hostel faciliteies can be improved slightly, they mostly provide 6AC and they can focus on 4AC more.
- The transporation is really tough and the locals dont know hindi or english either.
- The hostel in and out timings were really bad, specially for women.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is mostly influenced by industrial needs and were taught by SR.professors. the course curriculum is changed year by year by taking inputs from the students itself every semester to enhance the course. it is well-maintained to touch the industry needs and real time applications without losing the old applications also.
Internships Opportunities
The college provides you with internship opportunities with the package and also with placement offers with good packages. they provide capstone projects for the students in 4th year for the credit requirement and the other side. Also, there is a mini project which you can do for 24 days or more in an industry where you can get hands-on experience.
Placement Experience
The placements are good in VIT also the placement starts from 7th semester and for people with internships can get from 6th sem onwards. Top companies like Microsoft, dell, google, TCS, Tata stell, Saint gobain, Volvo,Boeing and many more top companies were invited every year by management. The highest package last year us 1.1CR and the avg package is arround 8LPA. Almost 85% of people got placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are divided into categories like 1st category =195000, 2nd category = 304000, and so on , fees might be changed year on year and the scholarship is provided to only the top 100 people in VITEEE. Also there is a special scholarship for Local people who are under BPL.
Campus Life
There are 2 major fests every year Gravitas and Riveria, Gravitas is a technical fest and many colleges were invited during this fest. Rivera is another big fest in South India. The library is really big and the books here is accessible to everyone also there are online material and the deposit of books is fully automated. The clubs really give you good access to social life and you can get good friends over there along with technical stuff.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility is average and the fees is bit high but the environment is really good. The wardens take good care of the students and the food quality is not bad but the menu is really good. The registration of hostel is based on your CGPA. Also the saddest part is you cant stay in pg unless your home is located under 50KM radius.
Admission
The admission process is only based on VITEEE exam which is an entrance test to VIT and the cut-off is based on your course and all. In my case, the cut-off rank is 8000 for Mechanical engineering. The time is 3 hours and 1800 marks. Also the cut-off changes year by year. According to my knowledge, there is no reservation in VITEEE. There might be a special program for Loacals. Also the requirement is 65% in MPC subjects in 12th grade.
Faculty
Faculties in VIT hold Ph.D in most fields either in their field or closely related field. The faculty-student ratio is not bad it is 1:60. the faculties were well experienced and most of them were from NIT and IITs. With a regular interval of workshop training, they get more updated.
Other Applied Colleges
SRM Institute of Science and Technology - [SRMIST] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Mechanical Engineering)
Since, I feel VIT is better for mechanical aspirants than SRM
Manipal Institute of Technology - [MIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Mechanical Engineering)
As, the lab equipment is poor in MIT.
