- In context with the Department of Mining Engineering BIT Sindri, the faculity here are very supportive in nature.
- The teaching here can be compared to an IIT level. This year i.e 2020 GATE MN almost 8 students got rank below AIR 100, with highest rank as AIR 3 and around 15 students got rank less than AIR 600.
- The entire intership process for 2nd,3rd and final year are facilated by the facility of the Department of Mining Engineering within various companies like UCIL,BCCL,ECL and SAIL etc..
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is well defined for an engineering student. Every year there is a requirement for going to do an internship,so that practical experience of the fields could be gained with the ongoing studies.
Internships Opportunities
Every department has there own internship process If I talk about the Mining branch ,the internship and vocational trainings are being arranged by the department only within various companies like SAIL,BCCL,ECL,UCIL NMDC etc. Also students can get paid internship from JSPL.
Placement Experience
Placements here are very good. A very good ROI can be achieved here. If I talk about the Mining Department only almost 80 % students are placed in core companies like VEDANTA,JPL,JSPL,ADANI,ABG etc. With an average package of 8 lakhs and highest 16.6 lakhs . Fact- Mining branch has the record of grabing the highest placement package from other core branches i.e 16.6 lakhs by VEDANTA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since it's an state government college , the college fees are bare minimum around 12000 rupees are charged annually for GEN and OBC category students, around 9000 rupees for SC,ST and Less than 7000 rupees for girls candidate. Also there are various scholarships programs that can be availed by the students like e-kalyan, ONGC scholarship and NSP etc.
Campus Life
The college life here is awesome. There are lots of clubs one can join to enhance there soft skills, habits etc. From various coding clubs to different cultural clubs ,all provide a very good guidance to the students. They organise various events ,meets etc so that the students are engaged in different lively events apart from the studies.
Hostel Facilities
There are in total of 28 hostels plus 3 new hostels are being made. Hostel here are well maintained. In the 1st year one gets a room with 4 other students , these is only done so that one can get to know other students. In 2nd year 4 students are alloted in a single room. And for the 3rd and final year every students gets a single room for there preparation and placements. The mess fee is around 3900 per month , with an exceptional good food . 5 days of the week are given non veg (chicken, egg and fis) 2 days of the week are given complete veg.
Admission
For the entrance you have to give JEE Mains, with the JEE Mains score one needs to fill the councelling form of JCECEB, from there according to the choice filling and rank one is granted BIT Sindri for admission
Faculty
All the facility member are PhD holders, experienced in there fields. Some of them has quit there high paid PSU jobs for their love of teaching. The facilities are highly dedicated to the department. They organise regular classes, seminars, also they take industrial tour on regular basis so that the students could gain practicle experience with the studies. What I love the most is that each and every student of the department is known personally by the facilities, they not only provide guidance with our studies but help in every other aspects.
