Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Even though the curriculum is large and hectic for students it gives a clear idea of how to approach to patients and practical part in clinics and early clinical exposure made me choose this course. Teaching method can be improved by bringing back chalk and board education system to collleges and by dividing the large group of students to units so faculties can give more attention to every student. Frequency of exams is every 3 months and then final exam with 1 month study leave but is very difficult to cover portions in the provided study leave.

Internships Opportunities

3

Internship facilities are provided by college itself for all students. It is 1 month duration intership with stipend of 30000 per month.Role of intership doctor is to give treatment in presence of head of doctor to patients in all departments for varying time period.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuiton fee is around 25375 per year it vary yearly but only slight variation in amount occurs.Scholarship is available mine is PMSS and the amount is 35000 in 1st year and 53000 in 2nd year. After final exams scholarship amount is credit with around 3-4 month delay. Financial assistance is from parents and campus employment policies are there for teaching students as tuiton for preparing neet exam but i haven't tried for jobs.Complete cost of education is around 30000 per year.

Campus Life

4

There are onam program in September, Christmas program in December, Holi in May. Books are provided in library and are accessible from morning to evening. Classrooms are smartclasses with air conditioning. Sports and arts are given importance in college and intercollege competition are taken seriously. Music club and dance club meetings are held regularly to understand students skill

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel facility is poor with about 7 students in a room and shelf and tables and chairs are provided in rooms. Meal quality is good and menu is different for different days with all day non vegetarian and vegetarian both provided. Registeration process is along with college admission and fees is around 450 per year and is affordable and hostel fee around 3000 per month.Locality of hostel is near SAT medical college junction, Thiruvananthapuram.

Admission

Eligibility of the course is Neet qualification along with a score of around 630 and above for getting into the college for my category OBC reservation benefit with category of Hindu Ezhava. Application process is first apply for Neet online and after result published there is selection for collection opting and after that there is allotment and it can be checked online. After that date for admission is given and after coming to the college they will provide application form, fees can be given directly. Timing if exam is once every 3 months and then final exam and is difficult to cover whole syllabus in study leave. To improve admission process college can provide more faculties to help students.

Faculty

2.5

There are enough faculties for students and classes are done by the help of power point presentation. Even though faculties are well qualified many of them just read the slides and do not care about how much student understands. Mentor group works well and helps in proving overall idea about exams and what to study. We can interact with faculties often during classes and during mentor group discussions.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It's always relevant to the content being taught by the teachers. They always use application based questions to prepare us for a real life situation as well. First aid training was also completed. Some of the teachers are very interactive while some not. Short exams are conducted on a weekly basis while internal exams are conducted every 2/3 months. Not that difficult but it isn't that easy either. Very strict checking, nothing is liberal.

The course is a pretty hard one i must say but the feeling of putting on a white coat and looking after patients is surreal and that's the main essence of the job. The curriculum is very vast but each subject is important in its own way. The exams are all conducted in such a way that there's enough time for us to prepare .
