- The infrastructure is very modern, with every room air conditioned.
- Students are provided with numerous facilities like canteen, well-maintained science labs, computer labs with even Apple PCs in one, library, swimming pool, gym, and many more.
- Discipline and decorum within the campus is strictly maintained.
Dislikes
- Food options and quality in canteen is not up to the par. Plus they charge you way more than outside food stalls.
- The campus is shared with the schools so morning batch students get limited access to the grounds.
- Common room and gym has been merged leaving almost no space for lounging expect empty classrooms.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college is affiliated under the University of Calcutta and hence, follow the curriculum provided by the university. The curriculum is very vast and in depth, which provides the students a very meticulous knowledge in their field. Though, I hope they had included more research or real life experience based portion on the curriculum. The exams are held every 6 months so you get enough time to study.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are offered by the colleges with stipends ranging from 8k to 20k per month. Some companies are HDFC Bank, Bajaj Alliance Insurance, Airtel, Kolkata Centre for Creativity, Indane etc. Roles offered vary from marketing, HR, finance, sales and many more.
Placement Experience
The placement opportunity provided by the college is top-notch, keeping in mind other undergraduate colleges in Kolkata. Students are usually eligible for campus placement starting on 5th semester. Though there are few exceptions where earlier semester students can apply and even some where passout students can apply. There are numerous offers coming through. In my time, I have witnessed atleast 25-30 companies. Ranging from very big corporations to small start-ups. The lowest salary offered being 1.2LPA and highest 6LPA. In one semester more than 100 students got placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is affordable compared to the other private colleges in Kolkata. The fees is around 25k per semester. Financial assistance is provided to those in need like, Kanyashree, Student Credit Card scheme etc. The placement opportunities provided by the college is unmatched to other undergraduate colleges in Kolkata. Opportunities are provided for both internship and jobs. Various well reputed companies like Deloitte, PwC, HDFC Bank, TCS, Indigo, ICICI Lombard and many more. Many moderate to small companies come too, so that every kind of student can apply. Minimum package starts from 1.2L per annum and in my year reached upto 6L per annum. I think average package is somewhere near 2.5L to 3L per annum.
Campus Life
I would say that the overall campus experience may fall short compared to other colleges, this college being more focused on academic prospects. Nevertheless there is a wide range of clubs and societies you can be a part of. Various seminars and competions and programs are also held from time to time. Other than that you can engage yourself in activities giving to the society.
Admission
The admission process was very smooth. You just have to apply in their website and later merit list comes out. There is no entrance exam. Reservation benefit is provided to SC, ST and OBC categories. The cut off in our batch was around 80%. No extra admission fees is demand along with the 1st semester fees.
Faculty
I would say the faculty is consisting of very well-educated and highly qualified teachers. However, the problem is the faculty-to-student ratio. Way too many students and very few teachers in comparison, a fault on the part of administration. So, getting syllabus completed within the time frame proves to be a challenge, often resulting in overcrowded combined classes. The teachers themselves though are very cooperative. Always there of the students whenever they need. Even outside college hours they are ready to provide their guidance.
