IILM: An Unfiltered Review

IILM's curriculum is designed in such a manner that not only focuses on the theoretical portion but also on the hands-on learning that apart from the marks on your sheets, makes you industry relevant. The exams are at a medium level personally and can be easily tackled if you pay enough attention in class. The faculty provides the material, lectures, and classes, enough for the entire concept to understand. In one semester we have mid-semester and then end-semesters.

As uptil now I only have done two internships offfered by college which was incorporated in the syllabus. One was a development program, and the other was an internship at Rapture Biotech. I learned about the minor details of different techniques and worked there a bit. As I majorly worked for experience. so i haven't received any stipend but a certificate which will definitely help me further.

I have very little knowledge about placements right now, but the average package is 8 LPA, and the highest is 18 LPA. IILM has MOUs signed with numerous organizations such as Infosys, IBM, Biocon etc. 75% of the students get places easily and the remaining have other aspirations hence, they do not opt for campus placements. Students from the 7th semester are eligible for the placements and they can opt for off-campus placements in any year they desire. I will be opting for a master's degree after my B.tech.

The tuition fee for a 4-year B.Tech biotech degree is six lacs, which is 75,000/Semester. The 10% scholarship for girls is a mandate that applies to all. The scholarships are based on your competitive exam scores, class 12th, and semester results. As far as I know, there is no such tuition fee hike. There are reservations for Haryana with 25% seats for admissions in the university, 10% shall be reserved for students belonging to scheduled casts. IILM also offers a Martyr's Scholarship, 10% for Jammu and Kashmir and North East, 30% from Nepal, and 10% for Children of Defence Personnel. The complete cost of the program's including food, accommodation, and everything, will cost me around 12 lacs.

I have served as the sponsorship head for fests, hosted seminars, and coordinated different IIC events like MOSAIC, IGNITE, etc. They are typically held in March or December. There are various clubs like dance society, drama society, singing club, entrepreneurs clubs, etc. Apart from all of this, my favorite spot is the Library. It's so calm, and the variety of books can keep me engaged for a long time. The entire campus, along with the classrooms, is equipped with all the advancements that are required to keep up with today's digital era. I am a sports junkie, too, and the facilities here at IILM are incredibly amazing. The coaches for basketball and volleyball are highly supportive. The badminton courts, football ground, cricket ground, and the teams going out to compete with the others are an excellent way for IILM to get the recognition they deserve.

I have opted for the in-campus hostel at IILM. It's a single occupancy room that costs me around 1.8 lacs per year with the food and everything. The food quality is good, and the nutritional value is apt. The registration process is quite simple get yourself registered in the admissions department itself and pay through salesforce. The hostels are well lit, equipped with fan, AC, lift, cleanliness facility, bathrooms, mirrors, table, chair etc. Overall, it's decent.

My experience related to the admission process was relatively medium. I found IILM through my counselor, and then I completed all the formalities on the official website. I filled out the admission form, and then I was shortlisted for the personal interview round. In the PI, they asked about me, and my educational background, asked me some general questions related to my field and my aspirations and asked me to wait for a week. After a week, I received my offer letter and got selected. All information is available on the official website of IILM. The areas IILM can work at is the transparency in the process.

The faculty here at IILM is exceptionally professional and the ultimate source of inspiration. The student-to-faculty ratio is 8:1. 85% of the faculty are PhD holders, and most are IITians. The remaining are GATE-qualified faculty with an intense research interest, which helps us to get insights into different fields during the lectures.

I faced a personal interview round during the admissions after the university had shortlisted my form. And then i cleared the interview which contained few questions related to my field and aspirations. It was mainly based on my previous knowledge and experience, and luckily, I got admitted.
