Likes
- With the emergence of new buildings, smart classrooms, Multi-speciality hospitals, 1000 Bed Hospital it is currently as good as a peripheral Government Medical College could be.
- Number of hostels has increased from 2 to 5 since this year, so accommodation is easy to avail and affordable as compared to the past.Very convenient for new students coming from different states and regions.
- Faculty is renowned, reputed Doctors keen on teaching depending on students' interest and feedback.Patients come from all across the surrounding regions and far, so learning opportunities are always high.
Dislikes
- There is a certain lack of sense of unity overall. College organised events are scarce, did not see any concept of official extracurricular clubs or groups which was in contrast to school life.
- College and Hospital Campus are although close in the area,but not within the same premises, that creates problems for students as well as for patients.
- Although there is high potential for improvement. Certain infrastructure, organisation and comprehensive approach feels to be lacking.
Course Curriculum Overview
MBBS is undoubtedly one of the most challenging and daunting course in the World. I got this college via NEET UG Counseling Unreserved Category. Curriculum is updated according to the NMC 2019 Guidelines, a lot has changed to become more comprehensive and clinical for early exposure of students. Exams are held once a year at the end of Proff duration.
Internships Opportunities
Internship is available in the attached Government Hospitals. There are three Hospitals within the College Campus and vicinity, we get to do rotational internship in all departments in these hospitals. Being a tertiary centre, it has high patient, case load, thus high exposure and learning opportunities.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition Fees is 1 Lac per year + 5500 Rs as LFA fees + 12000/- per year Government Hostel charges if you opt for hostel. Seat leaving bond - 30 Lacs Rural Bond 1 year - 10 lacs CM Medhavi Scholarship is available for merit students on the basis of 12th board percentage. Scholarships for Reserved Category students are available.
Campus Life
College has a well built, accessible Central Library as well as Department Libraries and Reading rooms for those who want to issue books or simply study in quiet environment. Smart Classrooms are available. Sports activities are held occasionally. However, there is no culture of clubs or students groups. College organised events are also lacking.
Hostel Facilities
2 Boys and 3 Girls Hostels are available. Accommodation is sufficient and adequate for students those who want to stay in Hostels. It is not compulsory to choose Government Hostels, students can look for external accommodations also. Fees is 12000 Rs / year
Admission
Eligibility is rank in NEET UG held once a year in May. Admission through All India Quota as well as State Quota MP Domicile/State Counseling. I did not avail any Reservations. Benefits are available and applicable on those who fall under those categories.
Faculty
Knowledgeable Faculty, well renowned Doctors, with years of experience in their subjects and specialisations. 2-3 : 180 ratio for students Most of the faculty is open for discussion and doubt clearing, if students initiate and approach. PGs in various departments are also ready for teaching and help in academics.
