Course Curriculum Overview
Unlike other colleges, here the main subjects starts from the first semester only. It is designed in such a way that students can carry themselves from being a beginner to professional. They start with python then C++, DSA, Java and then advanced DSA in Java. Curriculum is well formed and in third semester we get two choices from Computer vision and Natural language processing. The curriculum is vast as compared to others. Mathematics is also the major portion of it. So if anyone wanted to take AI, they should have interest in Maths too. The teaching can be improved if they also show us the real time examples of machines working. Session test are held 3 times with different weightage each time and unit test are mostly held 2 times, and then at last comes end terms. Unit test are comparatively easy and carries 10 marks weightage. Sessional tst are comparatively difficulty and end terms are moderate.
Placement Experience
From fifth semester students are eligible for placements. Though companjes are coming less for AI. And they are taking students for the role of Software Developer. AI based roles are coming less and students are not getting selected for AI based roles. Right now, 20 students have been selected for internship from 120 students.
Fees and Financial Aid
Bus fees increases by 5000 every year. Usually bus fees is 37000 . It is different for different place. Tution fees is 115000, which also get increased every year by 10000 I guess. The complete cost for per year is estimated 3 lakhs including the eateries. Hostel costs something 80000. Chitkara University is expensive. Scholarships are less usually not at all. Campus employability is also less, as you have to go by your own for that.
Campus Life
Annual festival is not held in long time. Fests are not conducted. Library is very small, it doesn't have working plugs and you won't get seat in there. And they don't let you sit in other departments libraries. Its the worst experience in terms of libraries. Usually classrooms are equipped with power plugs. But still most of the classrooms doesn't have them or its not working. Sports activities are fine but they charge extra for it. And teachers don't allow you to do sports as they want only attendence. Teachers usually obstruct students from societies as attendence shortage criteria is there
Admission
Now the eligibility is 90 percent plus in 12th boards and 90+ percentile in jee mains. Application form can be found on chitkara University website or just call them. Reservation benefits for girls are not there. Exams are held after every 15 days or 1 month. It is comparatively hectic schedule than other departments.
Faculty
Mostly faculty members are good with passion to teach students. The student and faculty interaction is good and it is being held in every class. You can approach to any faculty at any time and they are always ready to help. But some teachers have high egos and they won't listen to you, even if you have done nothing wrong. Deans especially are important asset that are really passionate about students studying. They sometimes provide project opportunities with them and helps then in internships. Mostly faculty are data analyst, have done PHD and have studied well in their fields for AI course.
