What Students Say
Likes
- The college has a really well planned infrastructure, with a continuous increasing buildings in the campus to provide better for the students. hostels are present inside the campus itself thus saving a lot of time for the students.
- The labs and classes in the college are really well equipped with all kinds of new technologies that are needed to give a good experience and learning to the students like projectors in every class, high-tech computer labs, laboratories, etc.
- The faculty members sit in a particular building where each one of them is approachable to every student may they be of their particular class or not, and can collaborate with the teachers on researches and projects.
Dislikes
- The number of students has been increasing exponentially which will further deplete the resources in all kinds which need to be discussed further like more students require teachers, thus they are starting to recruit low caliber teachers as well.
- The quality of food in the mess is slowly degrading, where we have to wait in long queues everyday waiting for the next batch to be prepared, and the quality of food on the two floors is different everyday.
- There are only talks of internship for the past half year, and no information about placements. We have no idea where such high number of average package has come from.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum of the university is really unique. The first year is although mostly same in every college, but there were still a couple of subjects that were different from the regular courses and were quite fun to go through. In the next years, there are many courses that are not offered in most of the colleges in India like agile software development and intelligent model design which are important for industry and specialization of machine learning respectively. We are also taught to work in teams as well as alone on different level of projects throughout every semester, as we are required a high number of projects every sem, one for mostly each course of the semester. In the third year, we are also required to conduct some research and finally try to get some research papers published which are also mostly funded by the teachers who receive grant each year.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities given by the college might be the best out of any college in the same tier and maybe even a tier higher. We are allowed to do interships from 6th sem itself with some conditions of course for the NOC, but every student is encouraged to go for internships for atleast a year and the placement committee brings numerous companies for internship interveiws and also conduct pre placement talks and workshops for the same. There are companies like times network, techcurators, morgan stanley who are ready to pay amounts like 50000 or even 1 lakhs, with a further promise of providing PPOs if they find a good enough candidate for the job. The roles asked are also well diversified like aiml engineers, software developers, front end, back end, data analyst, cloud services, etc .
Placement Experience
The placements are majorly done through internship processes first. The placement committee keeps on focusing on internships for the 3rd years, thus there are not even many 4th year students present on campus at any time, which means that there is no one to enquire and talk about placements. The packages can go upto crores as well as there are people who were placed in Meta as well, who also take sessions about how they did it. The percentage of students getting placements is actually quite high. My plans after getting the degree is get a good paying job in my desired field of software development and if I get the opportunity to get a job as a data analyst or in the field of machine learning, I would change my job profile too.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is quite expensive and in the upcoming years it might get as high as not able to compensate for the amount of good qualities given by the university. The college also charges really heavily for the makeup exams if you failed in the course and the hostels. The scholarships offered at the time of my admission were much better than they are now because of the increasea in popularity of the college in the country. There is no such thing as financial assistance but there sure are quite a few types of other scholarships that can be availed like sibling scholarship, or sports quota scholarship, etc . There is campus employment opportunity every year where you have to be student ambassador for the college and attend the new students looking for admission in different courses in the university.
Campus Life
My overall experience with campus life was actually quite good and fulfilling in all kinds of aspects. The social life is really good and there are students romaing the campus even early mornings having sleepless nights and fun, with in-campus stalls working till early in the morning to increase the fun. There are so many clubs and club activities all around the year that at some point one might even get tired of those activities like dj nights, flash mobs and what not. There are also two gyms, one of which is really nicely equipped with high quality equipment of both cardio and weight lifting types. There is also a swimming pool to enjoy swimming in the hot summer. Indoor courts of basketball, badminton, squash make the sprots facilities high-end.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are present in the campus itself with some facilites outside the campus starting from this year. The hostel rooms are available for mainly triple sharing from now on, although I always had a double sharing room. Each room has air conditioning which really helps in summer as there is really a lot of heat here in the summer. The cleaning facility is present for 24 hours where a sweeper comes by just simply dropping a mail. The toilets are common, but are many and mostly sufficient for the whole block and floor, which are also cleaned regularly. Room cleaning comes twice a week on the floor to clean the rooms. The hostel price is still quite high after these facilities and cannot completely compensate such high amount to be given each year.
Admission
There was no such thing as an admission process particularly for me. I didn't even visit the college and only went on the first day of college to directly attend the classes. Every detail about the admission process along with the scholarship details of different courses is present on the college website. The one part that they mostly try not to tell is about referrals where an existing student can refer a new student, which saves a quite okay amount out of the fees that would have to be paid next year by the existing student.
Faculty
I have completed my third year, and till now from the teachers I have worked with, 90% have been really good in their skills of teaching and their knowledge of the field they are working on. But there is that 10% which is not at all good and are much below the bench mark, sometimes even asking the fellow teachers present in the class for a simple question asked by the students. Every teacher has their own unique way of teaching , with some being really strict while some being friendly with the students. Most of them are the ones who stick to their time schedules and disciplined. Every teacher is working on some kind of research and everyone have multiple research papers published under their names. My batch mentor was of so much help for the past 3 years as well, he guided through each semester, telling me how to deal with a particular subject and even particular teachers.
