Remarks

In terms of cultural and technical aspects college is awesome but in the academic aspect I am not satisfied with college and have expected more from it. Administration in college is also not very good and delays everything as in government offices.

Entrance Preview

I got this particular College in part round of counseling. Also as I want to do engineering in chemical engineering and Gujarat has a lot of potential for chemical and petrochemical companies. Therefore I choose this particular College. Also, this College is far better than some of the NITs and the ranking of College in all India is also under 50 at the time I joined.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is not very good and is okay. The course is outdated and has not been changed from years. The subjects taught in the first year are related to every branch and field of engineering. From second year onwards branch and field related subjects are taught. Research options are available to interested students and facilities are provided by faculties of the particular field.

Internships Opportunities

Various companies recruit students for internships on campus as well as off campus. Some big companies are L&T, Reliance, Vedanta, ShipMis, D Shaw etc. Average stipend and duration of internships are around 20k and 6months. Many other companies provide work from home and in office internships for 1st and 2nd-year students which are of small duration.

Placement Experience

4

Various companies in all fields such as Reliance, Vedanta, Microsoft, Google, Nokia, TCS, Wipro etc come every year and offer decent packages to students. Highest packages are offered by core companies which ranges from 15 lacs to 40 lacs per annum. Various off-campus companies also offer cool packages. Average packages range between 5 to 10 lacs in every branch.

College Events

4.5

Various college events are Sparsh-It is the annual techno-cultural festival of the college celebrated in the month of March or April. In these various day events, night events such as singing night and dancing night take place with special celebrity night and EDM night happen. Kashish-It is the cultural festival of freshers exclusively for first yearites as a welcome in College. In this singing night and dancing, the night takes place. Various sports-related tournament also takes place in college and hostels such as IGNIS AND INTER NIT tournament.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible compared to other private colleges and expensive compared to state government colleges. But the fees structure for General category is highest followed by OBC category and then SC and ST category. For students having annual income is less fee remission is also given. Fees for One semester is around 60k and hostel fees are around 29k.

Fees and Financial Aid

For financially weak students fee remission facility is there depending on the family income. Many banks give easy education loans in NITs.There is a bank in college campus of SBI which gives easy education loan to students. Pp

Campus Life

4

Campus life is awesome in NITs and IITs because you get to interact with students from all over the country. The gender ratio is quite poor because of fewer girls coming to engineering. Student elections in college unite Students from the same state. Various events, workshops, cultural activities, and fun activities take place entire year for personality development and overall growth of students. Overall these activities are excellent.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

There are around 13 hostels in the campus. There are separate hostels for girls and boys. There are separate hostels for students of every year and postgraduate section. Hostel rooms are shared by 2 students till the second year and then onwards single rooms are alloted. The mess is provided in every hostel and food quality is good in some and bad in some hostels. Regular cleaning of rooms take place in hostel and sanitation is good.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are very helpful in knowing about how things go in college. One should make contacts with them for guidance and future references. Alumni network is very strong in SVNIT because of separate alumni section in college which gives the student direct contact with alumni and organize talks and seminar with them.

Exam Structure

At the beginning of the engineering, the timetable is hectic and there are many full days in a week but as the year passes the number of classes reduces and main focus stays on self-study of students.Exams are chill. Exams happen 2 times a semester one mid-semester and another end semester. Various internals and tests are going on through the year.

Admission

Admission in NITs is offered only on the basis of JEE MAINS exam. I secured 161 marks out of 360 in JEE and get the admission in this College. Various round of counseling take place and in them according to preferences and eligibility colleges are offered. The admission process is quite complex first you have to report at the allotted institute with all the papers asked and then at the time of joining fees is to be submitted in either way accepted. Then at the time of joining various rounds of paper verification takes place and batches are alloted.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty members are highly qualified. Most of them are from the research field or have BTech degree from the reputed institution. Faculties are mostly regional people of the area. They are interested and learned professionals and always try to give their best to students and make them clear the topics and concepts.

Placements are good. Students are eligilble for campus placements from 7th semester. The highest package is 2100000 and the lowest is 200000. The median package is 3.5 to 4.5 lakhs per year. From last two years there was 100% placements but usually its 90%. I plan to pursue pg after this degree in either mtech or mba.
