Life at vgec

First of all as i am a computer engineering student i think some topics are too old that not applicable nowadays. So that are only waste to study and they must add a new technologies in curriculum. And the timings of exams are very bad because after mid examination we have no time to study and our vivas coming after mid so we have no time to study the whole syllabus and after vivas they give 1 month of vacation for reading but after exams no holidays for relaxing this is too difficult for us . And the course is more theorical than practical.

From 7th semester students become eligible for campus placement. There are many companies like tatvasoft, torrent , nirma, adani comes for placement interview. The highest package in vgec is 35 LPA and lowest package is 3 LPA. There are 60-70% students get placed every year in computer branch. Some students who doesn't placed are going for off campus placement. Some of gives GATE exam for masters.

The tution fees are very less as 1500 per semester for boys and 850 per semester for girls and hostel fees are also less 1265 per semester for girls. And facilities are good as we have canteen ,gymkhana, garden, library, etc. and scholarship is also available. open/ews students can apply mysy and obc/sc/st can apply digital gujrat scholarship, And in placement our college is on top, every year good companies are coming in every fiels. And they offer average 4 to 5 LPA.

In vgec , many clubs like ncc, nss, gdsc, bachapan ,etc. as a government college computers are not working in labs So we have to carry our own laptops. We have table tennis and vollyball cort in gymkhana. Campus is beautiful and bigger.

I am living in a vgec girls hostel. In one room there are 3 beds, 3 tables and chairs and cupboards. A mess is available where food is affordable. 30 rs for half dish and 50 rs for full dish. And hostel fees are 1265 rs per semester. But there are many water issues in our hostel. No hot water in winter also. But not every girls can get admission in hostel. Because rooms are less . So you can live in PGs. There are many pgs near to campus. But they charges 4000 per month.

The admission process is very smooth. my rank was 2070 in acpc and because i am from OBC category i was selected in first round of acpc. This rank is calculated by my gujcet and 12th board percentile.

Some faculty members are good . They help us in hackathons and guide us. On the other hand some are not supportive and very busy in their own works. The total students in my department are 180 and every subject has 2 faculties. But some faculties are teaching very bad that we can't understand anything and they never complete the syllabus even half of the syllabus. And because of government college there are no compulsory attendance. So very few students are coming to the college
