Remarks
No bad remarks that I can think of. The college management is good but sometimes can get harsh but that's human nature as handling so many students takes a lot of effort. The best management I have ever seen is at this college. From academics to placements to cleanliness to health care everything is so properly organized and managed.
Entrance Preview
This is one of the best private engineering colleges in India. It provides the perfect environment for students to learn and develop at the same time. The campus is another cherry on the top which gives an extra advantage and a perfect green campus to study. The classes and the labs are complete with all the equipment and it is a state-of-the-art facility. The teachers are on par and a lot of opportunities. The placements are the best among private colleges as not a single person belonging to CSE or IT not get placed.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is similar to any foreign college. We have Fully Flexible Credit System (FFCS) which allows the students to choose what type of subject he/she has to study or at what time he/she wants to have a particular class or from which teacher does he/she want to study a particular subject or at what building does he want to attend that particular subject. Majorly all the subjects are inspired by MIT and the syllabus follows the same.
Internships Opportunities
Recently I sat for 3 companies for internship. The first was GAP (clothing brand) which offered a stipend of 25K. The second was DE Shaw with a stipend of 1L The third was VISA with a stipend of 25K. Microsoft too visited the campus with a stipend of 80K but only 9.5 CGPA people were allowed to sit in that. The same was the case with RBS which only allowed 9.5 CGPA students but offered a hefty stipend. There are still a few companies yet to visit like Paytm, JP Morgan, etc.
Placement Experience
Oh, this is the place where my college can bring marvels. The placements in my college are phenomenal and at par with other top colleges, you can think of. I saw the 10 years placements report and guess what only 2 or 3 people each year remained unplaced each year for CSE and IT department. All the major companies ranging from Microsoft, DE Shaw, JP Morgan, VISA, Condensation, etc visit the campus every year. The PAT office runs for 10 months which is the highest in India.
College Events
Every year 2 major events are celebrated in my college. One is a technical event called GraVITas in which all the clubs and chapters organize technical events and workshops. Various hackathons are organized too by Google. People from all over India come to participate in Robot battles etc. A second event is a cultural event called Riviera which is quite famous and is amongst the top 5 events around India. Various celebrities attend this fest and people from all around India visit to make this event a grand success.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is flexible here and depends on the category in which you are admitted. Few courses like IT and CSE specializations cost a little less than the core subjects like Mechanical and Electrical. There are 5 categories in our college and each year the fee of each category changes. If you are admitted in 1st or 2nd category then studying here is not at all costly.
Fees and Financial Aid
I didn't apply for a loan so I can't comment on that but I have seen various banks offering special offers on campus. All the students ranked from 1 to 10000 in VITEEE get a scholarship of 50K each year and from 10000 to 20000 gets 25K
Campus Life
The campus life is pretty good but a lot tiring due to exams every month and assignments on the head. The gender ratio is very good and we can find people from all over India and abroad too as they're a lot of campus exchanges from abroad. Extracurricular is very good at VIT as we have more than 200 clubs and chapters. The labs are well equipped. Every now and then there is a competition as there are societies like debate societies etc.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are "THE" best you can get in any college in India. The cleanliness and the security are at par. The toilets are very clean too. The mess is also very good and we get all the varieties of food one can offer. There are also paid mess where you have an account and can eat whatever you like. The hygiene is their top priority and the food gets checked for each new sample they make.
Alumni/Alumna
As VIT provides an opportunity to a lot of students to study so the alumni network is pretty strong and solid. Wherever we go we can find a VITian there. Bank of America has major VIT graduates as employees. Many seniors are in the worlds top colleges doing there MS or MBA
Exam Structure
The exam structure is quite unique and cannot be found in any other institution in India. We have 3 exams in one semester named as CAT1, CAT2 and FAT. Continuous Assessment Test 1 is a normal written exam where one has to learn and answer the questions. It happens in the 1st month of the semester. Continuous Assessment Test 2 is an open book exam where one is allowed to take books with them and can aid them to find the answers. The Final Assessment Test is the final semester-end exam where the complete syllabus of the semester comes in the paper.
Admission
The first one has to give VITEEE which is the entrance exam similar to BITSAT but a level low in difficulty. Then comes the merit list with the rank one has scored. There are 5 categories in which one can take admission in VIT. Each category has its own fee structure. One has to attend the counseling process to know which category one can take admission in. The top rankers get the priority of choosing the branch first and then so on and so forth everyone chooses according to their rank.
Faculty
As one says nothing is ever perfect. So is the case in our college. There are very great teachers to teachers who are not that good in a particular subject but they have to take that subject due to student demand. There are a few teachers whose Letter Of Recommendation can kick start one's career to lengths one can never imagine. The overall faculty experience is quite good and I am pretty satisfied.
