Likes
- One of the things that i liked about the college were it's infrastructure. Since the college was built back in the British Raj, it's infrastructure displays a unique blend of historic architectural buildings with carvings and paintings on the walls.
- Secondly, the college has more than a single library (Tagore library, CLL library, computer lib) which helps students from different financial amd economical backgrounds to have access to different educational resources in a plethora of subjects.
- Thirdly, the practicals being held for my subject were quite regular and the practical labs had more than enough equipments and apparatus to help each and every student learn the multiple dimensions of the subject and score more during the finals.
Dislikes
- The buildings and departments are too far apart and sometimes it gets very difficult to commute from one place to another in the summer heat.
- although e-rickshaws have been introduced inside the campus to help students commute within the campus, they are not available majority of times.
- The classrooms could be maintained in a better way by ensuring frequent cleaning sessions and painting of the walls.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum for Bachelors in Zoology consisted of regular classes being scheduled usually in the mornings in every semester. My course had a total of six semesters and we had practicals in three semesters which helped students grasp the concept efficiently.
Internships Opportunities
The college provides internship opportunities for students of different departments. The number of internship and employment opportunities differ as per the department and teh choice of the subject since management courses had higher number of internship and employment opportunities.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college takes effort in providing fair education to all the meritorious students by providing scholarships. The tuition fee was constant for the most part and i didn't see much of a hike in the fee during my graduation. There are internship opportunities provided by the college where students can learn about different industries. However, there aren't any employment opportunities provided in our course.
Campus Life
We weren't able to witness a lot of fests happening inside the campus since most of my graduation years were completed dueing covid. However, students from different departments do run clubs and organise events to keep the spirits of the students high throughout the semesters.
Admission
In otder to get selected in the college, students have to clear the entrance examination conducted by the college itself concerning their department of choice. The entire application process is done online be it filling of the entrance form, submission of the fee, uploading the documents, etc. Once the merit list of all the students eligible to take admission into their respective courses is declared, the students are required to visit the campus to verify their documents for one more time.
Faculty
Our department tends to divide the students into different batches or sections according to their choice of subjects since students have the freedom to choose their major and minor subjects in graduation. In our batch, a more than 60 students were taught under the guidance of a single teacher which might seem like a lot in the first glace but the professors tried their best in resolving doubts of all students. They were even happy solving student's doubts after class.
