Course Curriculum Overview

4

St. Xavier's Kolkata provides you one of the best curriculum where you can be ready for the future and also it continuously upgrades itself to match the pace of the changing environment of studies. Moreover new courses have been launched regarding recent trends. BCOM HONS. is the flagship course of the college and one the best courses you can apply for. The teaching methods needs to be improved a bit though but the curriculum is very robust and good. The curriculum prepares a person for the corporate world in a very nice manner. exams are conducted twice a years and between semesters one mid sem exam is held. The difficulty of mid sem is a bit low than the semesters and you'll get marks on attendance and projects too

Fees and Financial Aid

The total tuition fees is 230,000 for 3 years where you'll have to pay in 4 installments per year. The college can increase the fees by 10% every year according to rules and currently they've not hiked the fees for 2 years. Also they provide scholarships after 1st year to good performers. Intership opportunities are there in college itself through the Placement cell. And you can hold responsibilities in societies formed and events

Campus Life

4

The campus life is not very interesting because it's a small campus and bcom morning and evening are separated so you'll not get a great campus life. Xavotsav is the annual fest of Xavier's that is very famous in Calcutta. Library is the best place of St. Xavier's, the only only place with modern infrastructure and a wide range of books of almost every topic Classrooms are old and blackboard culture is still prevalent in SXC Sports is conducted but not much emphasis is given to it from the college so if you're willing for spots in sports don't opt Societies are run by students that provide good corporate exposure and they conduct events and various activities

Admission

The admission process is not very tough. You'll have to apply whe form opens on official website and then a 3 merit lists come in a span of around 15 days. The lowest cutoff for cbse is 88-89% and icse is 86-87%. No tests are conducted for bcom course

Faculty

3

St. Xavier's Kolkata over-all is a very good college in terms of studies as you see it is ranked in top 10 colleges as per the NIRF. But the college needs to improve on some grounds- the major pointers I can provide is to not take teachers with only qualification but also see their teaching style, old teachers with old orthodox teaching styles should upgrade themselves and electronic board should be installed in all classes and teaching should include videos and photos that makes it interesting. Teachers are interactive and approachable. You have small rooms besides staff room where you can have a one on one talk with you doubts with the teachers and sort things out. Mentors are good but they need to take mentorship sessions which I feel lacks. This was my overall experience of faculty

Other Applied Colleges

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.
