Course Curriculum Overview
Our cirriculum is credit based curriculum. Their will be credits given to course based on your performance in the final exam. There are assessments given during the course and marks are given based on the performance in assessment. In a total of 100 marks, 75 marks are taken from final sem exam and 25 marks are taken from asessments. But this cirriculam is old. They should make changes to the cirriculum according to job market needs.
Internships Opportunities
There are a lot of internship oppornuties offered in sastra. Various companies comes to sastra to recute interns. Some are wellsforgo, Hitachi, Comcast, Paypal, Appviewx and many other companies. There are 2 projects assigned to students in the cirriculum. One is mini project which is done during 6th semister. Other is major project which is done during 8th semister.
Placement Experience
Campus is sastra is very descent compared to other Tier 2 colleges. But in this year , the placements in sastra is very low compared previous years. The average package is around 6lpa in sastra. The highest package secured is around 35lpa. The lowest package is around 3lpa. Placements is guarenteed if you joins in sastra. TCS company takes around 500 people from this college every year. Around 90 percentage of students gets placed in this college.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for first semister is around 75000 and for 2nd semister 76000. Their is an upgrade of 1000 per semister. For the entire 4 years, the total cost amounts to 10lakhs. MHRD scholarship is accepted in this college which gives students around 10000 per year. For girls thier is also a scholarship is given by management.
Campus Life
There are mainly two annual festivals happens in sastra. One is DAKSH which is a technical fest. The other one is KURUKSASTRA which is a cultural fest which soans around 3 days. Library in sastra is state of the art facility in sastra. Its very hude and its contains very large number of books from various fields. The sports facilities in sastra is decent. Boys GYM is present and for girls there is a seperate gym. .
Hostel Facilities
There are varous type of hostels in sastra. But all the hostels are Non AC. Some hostels have attached washrooms and some have common washrooms. There are 2 in 1 rooms, 3 in 1 rooms, 4 in 1 rooms and single rooms. Coming to the food, its not good. The menu is based on Tamilnadu style and thge quality of the food is not so great. And its a nightmare for Non Vegetarian in Sastra because its not alloed inside the campus.
Admission
At first we need submit an application for admission in sastra which costs around 800. Rank is given by sastra based on your JEE Mains percentile and Inter marks. There are two streams which sastra gives ranks. One is 50 percentage weightage for JEE MAINS and 50 percentage weightage for Inter Marks. Other is 75 percentage weightage for INter Marks and 25 percentage for JEE Mains. Reservation is only given people in Thanjavur and Trichy city.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio in sastra is 7:100. Faculty in sastra are highly qualified individuals who comes from various parts of india. The quality of education provided by them is very high. But there are very few faculty members who showws discrimenation based on language. Most of the faculty members are friendly and we can reach out to them in any time.
