Course Curriculum Overview

4

Medical Curriculum is indeed one of the toughest and skill based curriculum in the world. Exams in colleges are regular and according to the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS). The course has changed significantly with more emphasis on practical and skill based approaches in patient care so students get hands on training if they are ready to learn.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Internship is compulsory in a medical college without which you will not be offered the degree. There is 1 year rotatory internship in different departments and hospitals where a student gets hands on experience. Updated stipend according to Maharashtra is 18000 Rs.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure is different for different socioeconomic classes of society. For instance, it is approximately a lakh rupees for Open candidates. We have scholarship schemes under DMER which a student can apply for various courses so they can avail a 50 to 100 scholarship depending on their social classes. Apart from the tuition fees the college charges 5000 Rs development fees, 4000 Rs hostel fees and miscellaneous charges not amounting to more than 5000 per year.

Campus Life

3.5

The college holds one big Cultural event every year followed by many small events like Shivaji jayanti, Ganesh Utsav, Garba Night and many more. A wide range of books are available in library which can be accessed by students. Nowadays the classrooms have changes with use of smart boards in some of the lecture halls. Clubs and social groups are in place but are still very new so I wouldn't comment on them.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

A room is shared by 3 people. You will get a Fan, 3 beds, a table and cupboard. Other things you will have to bring on your own. Mess quality is a personal opinion where some people will find it okay while others below par. But at the end food options are never a problem becauss you will find a variety of mess options to choose from. Hostel admission process takes place annually and students are informed beforehand. Its an offline process.

Admission

You can get admission by scoring through NEET exams. After scoring you have to get the par score which changes every year depending on a lot of factors. After that you have to participate in admission counselling process. It is a centralized online admission process with offline verification at centers. Sometimes the process os tiresome for you have to travel a lot between different rounds of admissions depending on your choice filling.

Faculty

3.5

By default, being a medical college all the faculty are medical doctors excelled in their superspeciality branches. In lectures teacher student ratio is 1:150, in practicals it will be like 1:25 so better emphasis on the practical and skill based aspect of medicine. Many of the faculties are quite approachable.

Other Applied Colleges

St. Xavier's College | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Microbiology)
