Wonderful and Unforgettable memories

Finally, SVNIT is really a place that you should not miss out if you get a chance (Especially if you get mechanical engineering ) and there is also no fear of ragging in the college premises. College management is very helpful in all the cases and we can approach them directly in their cabin in our free time.

I was very much interested to get a seat in a college having National importance and getting a seat in NIT is a very good honor to us. The chance of getting a seat in these colleges in not possible by money but by talent. So grab the opportunity if you get the chance like me. Also, the college premises will be very clean and there is a lot of greenery in college. There are people from different states and we get the culture from different groups which will ultimately build our personality.

Mechanical Engineering in one word is the heart of NIT Surat. There are plenty of jobs available in mechanical engineering, as I am in my final year me itself is the self-witness. I even got placed in a good company with 7LPA. If we have good passion definitely our professors will sanction money for our projects in the research area. (Especially in NIT's) This is a great opportunity to all of us. There are also very interesting electives. They will be in the third year and final year. We can choose electives from any branch in the college.( Like a mechanical Engg student can take the elective of a computer engg branch), this is a very good option for us.

Yes, the college does provide internships under many professors in the vacation time. The students can approach any faculty in his interested field and should be able to impress the faculty and prove your anxiety to learn very much and do a good report of the given topic. Unfortunately, there will be no stipend for undergraduate students for these internships but we can learn a lot of knowledge.

Especially, in the mechanical engineering field, there are a lot of jobs available in Gujarat as it is an industrial area (Near to Mumbai, Pune, Hazira ) and as of now 2018 placements there are almost 80% placements in very good companies with an average salary of 6LPA which is a very great thing. Mechanical engg department is the heart of NIT Surat.

In the first year, all the freshers will have a farewell party known as Abhinandan in the first semester and in the second semester, we will have Gujarat's biggest Techni-Cultural fest known as SPARSH. This is very interesting and involves all the four years students. Also, we will have departmental events for every department and Cricket tournament called MMNCT and football tournament and also inter NIT tournaments.

In our time, the fee structure is very much different as of now. Presently, the fees are to be paid at a rate of Rs.75000/- per semester as tuition fee and Rs.35000/- as hostel fee per semester. But don't worry as the government has bought new scheme of 100% fee reimbursement to the students having income less than 2LPA and 75% fee reimbursement to the students having income between 2-4 LPA. So, it is really feasible with this scheme.

Definitely. The college has State Bank of India inside the campus and the bank provides a loan to the students without much difficulty involved. Also, many of my friends got scholarships from the college side where interviews will be taken from applied students and after all documents verified, the scholarship is sanctioned. Also, we can get scholarships from many private organizations as SVNIT is a college of great importance. (scholarships from FFE etc)

Campus life is just excellent and we get all the required qualities to excel in our life if we participate in all the events and grabbing the opportunities. The gender ratio is quite good. There are almost 40 girls for every 100 boys in the campus. This creates a good opportunity in interacting with each other. There are good diversity and no differences in people from different states. There will be competitions for robotics every year for which separate area is built. Also Number of sports events like IGNIS, MMNCT, etc in which everyone can participate. All are well organized and really good.

Surat being a part of Gujarat, The place where Mahatma Gandhi is born, there is no non-veg in the hostel food(We can eat outside the college). But the veg food which is served in hostel mess is exceptional. I am a south Indian and I really appreciate the food given in the hostel mess. The quality is also so good and there are several options and different messes from which we can choose to eat. About hostels, there is one big hostel for girls and there are 4 different hostels for boys for four years residence. All of them are really maintained well with each room having a balcony.

There will be alumni meet for at least once in two years in which they will help the college as well as students to get jobs (they refer companies to our college) and also they help the financially backward students by providing them scholarships.

It is really very chill and we can learn the concepts with minimum pressure and the timetable is also very liberal. We will have two half days a week and also Saturdays and Sundays are holidays and also have breaks between regular classes. Lunch break is of 2 hrs approximately. This is a place where we can enjoy and also grow to greater heights undoubtedly.

Firstly in 2015 where I have taken my admission, I cleared the JEE Mains exam with 159/360 marks and got the All India Rank 11188. Later the time has come to fill up the choices of the available colleges which was organized by JOSAA. I have filled all the top NIT's and eventually got NIT Surat in the second round of counseling. Total there will around 5-6 rounds. I am from Hyderabad and as soon as I got NIT Surat, I went to NIT Warangal and froze my choice (Accepting my admission), we can go to any nearest NIT to freeze our choice after any round. Later during the academic start, I went to NIT Surat and completed all the formalities in the college itself.

Our college has one of the best and experienced faculties of different age groups. We can meet them at any time in college timings at their cabin and they are so transparent to students that they give their mobile number to every student. As not every professor is good (100% good faculty is not possible in any college), but maximum professors are very good in answering our personalized doubts and give many theoretical examples of each and every working(I am sure of Mech Engg Department)
