Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is okay. There are various value added courses and internship training per semester. Preparing the students for the real world. The curriculum doesn't focus on paper written exams alone and that's a fantastic thing for a student. These value added courses are often majorly voted by students corresponding to their course so it's in best interest of the students. One place the curriculum lacks is in providing more practical or lab classes. Any engineering student shouldn't be polished on just theory exams. Lab should be considered just as equal or perhaps more important too.

Placement Experience

2.5

Most of the students tend to manually work their way up to get to interviews after graduation or continue post graduate. Placements from the college isn't heavily reliable. The companies that come for interviews are mostly startups, the only good ones that you could find there are infosys, Accenture and such. The average package is around 4 lakhs per annum and that isn't guaranteed to every student and the placement is for the ones who are ready to work more than double for what they're paid. The highest average one could hope for is about 6-8 lakhs per annum and that too if you're an IIT level student.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are provided to the financially needed students such as the underprivileged ones. Scholarships are also given to the academically well performing students with the criteria of maintaining cgpa of 9 or above. Apart from these none of the fee structure is student friendly. It's mostly business marketing for the college. Students under the same course have to pay different tuition fees, it all depends on how you took the admission in the college. Direct admission through the college office is no help either as they'd ask for more money as well. Placements in the campus are okay. The institution is well known for the aeronautical department and such departments do get good placements. Other departments don't. The placements however isn't something you could rely on, it's barely enough to get you started on life.

Campus Life

3

Starting off on the infrastructure, it's splendid. One would want to spend their time with friends in the campus. There are many places you could sit and enjoy and the great amount of trees and plants within the campus give you such a cool atmosphere, which is good because Tamil Nadu temperature is often quite high. The infrastructure is just to attract more people and that it does well. Apart from that, it isn't student friendly at all. The college focuses on one thing and one thing alone, classes and exams. There are no club activities and sports aren't well encouraged. Even the ones who are representing the college team aren't allowed to go to practice during certain periods. The grounds are basically fields or yards, it isn't even levelled for students to play. A basketball court is available which is in good condition but overall students expecting to boost their social skills might be better off not joining there.

Admission

There are two sections of seats in the campus. The council seats and the management ones. Students who studied in Tamil Nadu exclusively get the benefit of the council seats which basically use the metric system, so a direct allotment after the 12th grade. Management seats are the admission done using fees. There's no entrance exam done in the campus, the admission process is basically a race for students. The ones who reach first and the ones with more money can get a seat in their desired course in the campus. The campus exposure isn't great, the college isn't at all known outside the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Faculty

3.5

starting off, the teaching methods of many faculties are old school. Some doesn't even know how to teach. They'd mostly speak to themselves infront of the blackboard and students would have to cover everything themselves during exam. One thing students rely the faculty on is getting the important questions for exam. Eventhough many are bad at teaching, they do care about it. Faculties are easily approachable for anyone including the HoDs of departments and they would be enthusiastic to respond to our doubts as well. Some faculties however are just there to take their personal revenge on specific students. They are just not happy with whatever the students do and give some gigantic workloads for absolutely no reason.

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.

1.) Placement begins from the pre-final year and we are allowed to apply for companies from the final year. 2.) Around 70% of the class gets placed in reputed companies with an average CTC of 4-8 LPA. 3.) Along with core biotech companies, many IT companies are also hiring students at a very decent package. 4.) I plan to pursue a master's after this course.

The students become elgible for placements right from the 5th semester of their course work. The students who have no standing arrears become elgibile in the first place. There are many companies visiting the college where Infosys, Cognizant, Virtusa are the mass recruiters. The are many other companies like TCS, Wipro, Zoho etc. visiting the college placement drive. On overall 90% of students gets placed every year. The highest package of 25lakhs per annum was offered by amazon for 3 students. My plans after getting degree is to get placed in any of the company.
