Exams will happen twice a year.one semester will held in between DEC-Jan and the other semester will held in between may-June. If you were good in class 12th then you can easily tackle 1st year.In 1st year there is no load if you have knowledge of your class 12th then u can get good marks in your first semester as well as your second semester.
