Experiencing an eclectic journey

The college management is accessible to the students and is ready to hear feedback and suggestions regarding the administration and problems faced in the college. The college being in an open university is the only seen disadvantage but a lush green campus which refreshes the mind and promises a peaceful stay in the beautiful campus is the biggest pro in between the busy and polluted city.

TSEamcet was the exam which through which everyone gets selected. Being inquisitive and interested in engineering with biology-related principles made me to choose this particular course. I've always been fascinated about this unique course as it holistically connects engineering with medicine.

This unique course has a blend of engineering experience with medical principles. Four years of the course has common subjects to all the departments during first year. Third semester in second year encompasses medicine subjects taught at osmania medical college while sixth semester has courses in DD hospital. Rest all semesters are conducted in the college itself. At the completion of college a student will have a sound knowledge on designing medical instruments and in other potential areas which promises either a research oriented or job oriented career

The college provides internship for those highly interested and willing to work with. Many hospitals across Hyderabad which are well equipped with advanced instruments provide intern options through our college.

Our college is well known for its placements . This branch in particular has two companies annually visiting the campus for placement drive. However there are quite number of IT companies which mass recruit the students in their fourth year. Many of the students prefer doing post graduate and prefer further studies for research.

There is technical fest conducted annually during the month of May. It's a national level symposium where all the students across the country compete and contest in various projects and presentations. There is no culture fest conducted department wise but for an overall fest conducted in the college.

The college is known for its lowest fees among all the education institutions for engineering. Annually the tuition fee is 10 thousand and there is an additional mess fee if the students opts for a hostel admission. There is also an admission fee of 7500 rupees during the first year. However this fee structure differs for other national students.

The students entered the college through eamcet is offered a full fee scholarship through state offered epass scholarship. There are also other scholarships through FFE which are given to people securing a rank below 5,000 in eamcet.

Since the students are allocated admissions on a cut throat competition who choose the college in their first option there are different students across the state in general. There are also students from other states and foreign nations who choose to study in the college. Gender ratio of boys and girls is around 6:4. There is a preconceived notion of political inclination and pressures among students who belong to our college but I haven't seen any political interference and any discussions regarding politics are rarely heard.

There is a new hostel block built for fresher students. Second and third year students stay together with two students accomodating a room. Fourth year students are perked with a single room per student. The hostels are huge representing the age old charisma of the university. Food in the mess is exceptional with south indian dishes eclectically served. The mess fee for a particular month ranges around 1800 rupees but can be paid annually or per semester according to the students choice.

There is strong alumni base and a recently established alumni association in the college. The association provides various valuable perks to the students regarding their education and organises alumni related events in the college itself. Alumni heads are all time available in the office located in the college itself

Four year course consists of 8 semesters, two in each year. Every semester has two internal exams conducted once in two months and a main examination at the end of the semester. Each semester has different curriculum regarding labs and subjects. Labs are usually conducted in the afternoon session of the day while theory subjects during the day. Lab exams are conducted simultaneously with theory main examinations

I applied for TSEamcet during April and attempted the exam in mid-May. I got a rank which when verified with previous years ranks guaranteed me an admission in this particular branch. The certificate verification process and counselling was detailed in the TSEamcet website. I have carefully selected my options and waited for the first round counseling list. I've got the seat in first counseling and joined the college given in the joining date report.

The faculty at our college is well trained and highly qualified. They are an academically sound and almost everyone has a teaching experience for around 10-15 years. Few of them are graduates from IIT Bombay and post doc fellows at other IITs. The faculty is reputed among the famous hospitals across Hyderabad and they have hands-on training experience with advanced instruments.
