What Students Say
Likes
- I like the academic aspect of the university a lot. Its kind of like school but I love the academics. Some of the faculties are really amazing and helps students through and through if they need any help.
- The labs are well equipped and well maintained mostly. You get a lot of laboratory experience and exposure as a science students. The teachers help you if you are really dedicated towards learning.
- The programme structure is okayish to be honest. I love all the core subjects but there are few unnecessary subjects too but they add on to credits so I really don't mind personally.
Dislikes
- Some of the faculties are really too much to bear. A lot of unnecessary work-load is put on students. Although, I love the academics aspect but the distribution of work on students can be re-structured.
- The attendance system is very hectic to the students. Minimum 75% attendance in all the subjects is required otherwise you will get debarred. The rigid time of classes and attendance system leaves students with no time to study.
- The university provides you will many subjects to choose from but never lets you actually select the ones you want to. The subjects for each semester are pre-decided and hence providing options is a mere formality.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is holistic and we study all the main branches of biology which form the basic step for learning. But the curriculum is good. It could be re-structured to give students a better understanding. We have an additional course to learn a foreign language which is really great. The curriculum would be better if the sequence of the courses is rearranged.
Internships Opportunities
For our program, there are no placement opportunities. But you get to work in the lab as a part of the dissertation which is unpaid. Additionally, you can get to work on projects with some teachers.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee increases every year which is not so good as we already pay a lot and it does not create a value for the fee that we are paying. For the first semester, the fees was 50k per sem plus a 20k security deposit for the second year it was 52k per semester, and for the final year, it was 58k per sem which personally feels kind of unjustified to me. Some academic scholarships for those who have single parents and those who score a particular CGPA are available.
Campus Life
The Amity Youth Fest is overhyped. The fresher's party is very bad. The orientation program is again nothing fruitful to students. The library has to be one of the highlights. It's very huge with a lot of books and a good space to study. It's air-conditioned and very comfortable. An online version of the library is also available for students. The classes are airconditioned as well. There are a variety of clubs to join.
Admission
I got admission in 2022. There was no entrance exam, the eligibility is to have more than 55% in 12th. The application forms and the rest of the details are available on Amity's official site. The exams are easy and are conducted every 4-5 months. But I have heard that now they have started taking personal interviews too.
Faculty
Most of the faculties are highly qualified and their ongoing research in their respective labs is applaudable. Some of the teachers are really sweet and make students comfortable meanwhile some are just straightforwardly rude to students.
