A college which can make possibilities endless

The college is quite new and has very good reputation for research. Being a government institute the management is not that active in tapping the true potential of the college.

Considering its location and brand name of Panjab University, UIET was one of the better options available. The college is new but had reasonably good reviews. Finally a government institution made me choose it because of the fee structure. Also the branch EEE was available.

The course curriculum is at par with the NITs/IITs. The curriculum is based on the syllabus recommended by IIT kanpur. And at the same time is updated regularly. I am in Electrical and Electronics and have subject that are taught in some IITs and not other colleges.

Yes internships are provided based on interview and proper drives are conducted by the Training and Placement Cell of the college. But mostly they are for the final year students. A good pointer and some basic skills can get you a stipend of around 10K/month.

Placements are very good for Computer science(CSE) and Information Technology (IT) students. There are over 40 companies that come for software/ programming/ IT roles. But there is a dearth in companies for core like Electrical & Electronics and Mechanical. However many non-core companies keep coming.

The college events are definitely a highlight. The annual techno-cultural fest is Goonj, a 3-day event which is quite popular in the Chandigarh region. Also, the student societies keep organizing fests like MUNs, Udyami and overall there are many events happening in the Panjab University. So there is not a dull moment anytime.

For a general category student the fee for a bachelors course is sonewhere around 73000-75000 per year. And 5000 examination fee per year is also an expense. The fee has been recently hiked a bit. But is not very expensive. So is quite feasible for the middle class.

There are many scholarship opportunities for top performers and SC/ST students. But many students dobt know about them.

The campus life is really great. There are a lot of societies for students. Each and every committee is quite active and regularly conducts some events. Labs are not that great but just adequate for all the branches. Sports facilities of Panjab University are very good. Overall he college has some really good options to enjoy the college life.

Hostel facilities are at very reasonable prices. Although the hostel alllotment is on basis of rank. But the fee is just Rs 12000 per year. And mess and canteen food prices are also reasonable. The quality is improving and is not that great. The hostel cleanliness is a concern but for the fee, its good.

Student Team for Alumni Relations manages the contact with alumni. And over time some alumni have helped in bringing companies to college for placements.

The exam structure is quite relaxed. Two minors (30 marks) and one major(50 marks) exam each semester. The best out of 2 minors is counted along with the major and 20 marks for internal. Each subject has credits assigned to it and one needs to pass all the prescribed credits for that particular semester. There are 8 semesters in all for B.E.

The admissions are conducted through Joint admission Committee(JAC Chandigarh), under which 4 colleges participate. The admission is based on the ranks in Joint entrance examination (JEE) Main. Earlier PEC also participated in this but since last year it has moved on to JoSAA.

The curriculum is great, but the faculty is not well versed, or at least some faculty is only capable enough. Many teachers are on contract basis and hence the quality is not at par with the course curriculum. Some departments are completely supportive but some are not.
