Remarks
The college is great overall. My experience here so far, has been fun as well. There are a few things they could improve on though. The management seems fair. It can be a bit annoying to get through them at times, makes you feel like you're in a government office and not college administration.
Entrance Preview
I took no extra examinations and opted out for this course because software is a field of interest of mine. My second choice was psychology, another subject I'm interested in.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is good, not bad. Its inadequate though. I believe it should offer more. Study material is available in the library which makes things easier. This course doesn't really focus on research. It doesn't go deep into the subject. It sets out an outline instead. The allied subjects aren't very useful I think. I'd prefer having an all core subject curriculum instead.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, it does provide internships. In my course, internships are offered in the fourth and fifth years. I am still in second year so I'm unaware of the stipend offered but the companies coming in seem really good so I'm assuming the experience must be worth it as well.
Placement Experience
I think more than 90% of the students get placed. That says a lot in itself. We are given plenty of opportunities for attending interviews and getting placed as well. We often have many big companies coming in. Therefore most people get multiple opportunities to get placed before they even complete their course which I think is really great.
College Events
There are plenty of events that take place in the college organized by different departments on different topics. There are technical and cultural events and also events conducted by the student council and other student clubs. These events are usually inter-collegiate and so we can see many people from many different colleges coming in to participate.
Fee Structure And Facilities
I think the fee structure is pretty ok. They don't ask for too much. Other than the exam fees, I have nothing to complaint about. The exam fees I think are a tad too high and should be reduced a little. Other than that, we are forced to pay a certain amount to the student council while paying the fees which I think is really stupid and not worth.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college provides multiple scholarships actually. None of them I've availed though. There's obviously the scholarship for extremely smart students, and then there's one for sportsmen and also one for the physically challenged and people coming from lower backgrounds. I think the scholarships are really helpful.
Campus Life
Campus life is enjoyable. The gender ratio is fair I guess. I think its 55% women to 45% men. And there are people coming in from all over India and even outside the country so you get to see people of different cultures and religions. The labs are well made with the best equipment for use. They have multiple playgrounds for different purposes meeting the needs of sportsmen and many competitions are held throughout the year where students can display their talents.
Hostel Facilities
I am not a member of the hostels but I have visited them a few times. They have many hostels and they are actually really well built. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and they have a proper security system set up. The food at the mess isn't great but it isn't so bad either. It's worth it considering the hostel fees they're paying.
Alumni/Alumna
I do not know much about the alumni but the seniors are fun, kind and helpful. There can be a few rowdy ones too but that amount is negligible and can be ignored. The seniors are usually very helpful and open to communication to juniors. you don't feel intimidated by them. They have a very welcoming aura.
Exam Structure
Two cumulative assessments over a period of 6 months. One every 3 months and a final semester exam at the end of the semester. This, multiplied into the number of years would be the number of exams you'd have to write. I think its a pretty fair system and gives you plenty of time to prepare. And the assessments also prepare you for the final semester exam.
Faculty
The faculty is good. Some of them are exceptionally good. Their classes are actually interesting and would make me want to attend them. And then there's also the few who are boring, annoying, not so intelligent, etc. But such staff are few and easy to avoid really. You'd probably have one such staff each semester. Any more than that and you're probably a very unlucky person.
