Rounak Agarwal's Review On The Bhawanipur Education Society College - [BESC], Kolkata

The College gives admission based on ISC (Class XII) Board Examinations wherein I secured 91% in Best of 5 subjects. The admission requires an Application Form to be filled manually and a Personal Interview. The interview was conducted by the Vice-Chairman of the College.

The Course Structure is based on the guidelines of the Calcutta University. We are required to appear for the examinations conducted by the University every year. The Course Structure in the Institution was adequate to meet the examinations and clear them with relative ease.

The College does not provide internship. It however concentrates on Extra Curricular activities especially Inter-college competitions. We were given an overall development in the fields of Public Speaking, Debating, Presentations and other Competitive skills that are very practical and useful in the Corporate Scenario.

The College does not have a strong Placement record, The companies that come over looking for hiring candidates are insufficient comapred to the number of students and most student do not opt for placement opportunities offered by the College. I being an undergraduate student did not opt for placement for the college. I went on to do a professional course in Chartered Accountancy to build a better Resume for getting a job.

The College provided discounted fees for the under-privileged students who were facing hardship is continuing their college education. In such cases the Trust that used to run the college would grant special waivers for the students and announce them to the College Management. The gender ratio in the campus is great. We have both boys and girls in the campus even during the evening sessions. More girls were registered for the morning classes. The campus life was both exciting and engaging as we were encouraged to take up extra curricular classes conducted by the college such as Mocktails, Cookery, Foreign Languages etc.

The College did not provide Hostel Facilities however we had plenty of PG(Paying Guest) Facilities around the college campus. The food available in the college canteen was average. However the college did provide stay facilities during the days of inter-college competitions both within the campus as well as during the festivals organised by other colleges in other cities.

The Alumni Network and senior students for the college has been very few and in selected areas. Groups such as Dance Team, Debate Team, Management team has stuck around and been available for the college. However people have been mostly busy in their own lives as most students have migrated from the city in search of a better career.

The Examinations are conducted every semester i.e. twice a year, in preparation for the University examinations. The University of Calcutta that provides the Graduation Degree conducts the examinations once in a year. The Interim examinations are conducted by the college within the college campus in a very chilled out ambiance.

The Faculty of the College comprised of some of the Best Teachers in the City. There were practicing professional including CA and CS teaching us Practical subjects like Accountancy, Direct and Indirect taxation. A Practicing High Court Lawyer was teaching us Mercantile Law. The other teachers were also having extremely good caliber in their teaching skills.
