Entrance Preview
I had taken up GGSIPU MCA Entrance Exam - 2000 for seeking admissions to MCA curriculum and had stood at 87th rank in the exam. At that point in counselling, I had several options like DIAS, JIMS etc but chose CDAC (Erstwhile ER&DCI, Noida) due to its prior reputation and excellent lab facilities.
Course Curriculum Overview
CDAC followed Course curriculum prescribed by GGSIP University. Overall it was very comprehensive and I feel contains all the aspects of computer application that one needs to know to enter the IT industry.
Internships Opportunities
Yes. CDAC was able to provide me internship at one of the startups (IT Preneurs) where I was awarded INR 5000 as stipend which was really good as compared to that period when markets were not doing well and fever students were getting internship.
Placement Experience
At that time(2003), Ours was the first batch passing out of CDAC for any degree program and there were no campus placements. However, If I look at the students passed out of our batch, all of them are well placed in reputed companies today.
College Events
CDAC use to conduct lot of competitive events internally as well as provide us opportunities to participate in inter college events hosted by GGSIP university. One of the annual event hosted by CDAC was Techkriti where we use to have programming contests, CUI/GUI programming as well as cultural events held once every year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees at CDAC were governed by GGSIP university. There were 3 fee structures i.e. Free Seats, Paid Seats and NRI Seats. Free seat students were required to pay INR 22500 per annum . Paid seat students were required to pay INR 75000 per annum. NRI students were required to pay INR 150000 per annum.
Fees and Financial Aid
At that time in 2000-2003, CDAC didn't offer any scholarships but the free seats for the top students in the entrance exams acted as a scholarship since the fees were very less as compared to other students who didn't get the free seats. Compared to the facilities provided by CDAC, the fee was really very low.
Hostel Facilities
At the time when I was studying at CDAC, there were no hostel facilities available. 5 of us took a flat nearby which costed us INR 3250 per month as rent and another 1000-2000 extra for food, electricity etc.
Exam Structure
There were regular exams and practicals conducted by CDAC internally before being subjected to the semester end exams conducted by the GGSIP university every six months.
Faculty
Faculties at CDAC were very friendly, knowledgeable and experienced. In fact CDAC also has a software development centre in Noida and leveraged experienced professionals from the development centre to teach several topics.
