The exam is called JEE which is conducted by NCHMCT. It is an all India exam, and based on your rank, the college can be chosen, much like the cat exam for MBA. Hotel management was a natural choice for me, as it helped me combine my desire to directly be exposed to new cultures and learn the basics of hospitality.

Well, the course is not as theory extensive as it is practical hands on knowledge. But this again would change from college to college. The good ones keep the students engaged. There are four main subjects i.e. front office, food production, food and beverage service and housekeeping. These four remain constant throughout the three years of the course.

The college invites hotel companies to the campus to conduct interviews for the industrial training in the second year. Some interviews also happen at the hotels. Some other students choose to manage their training on their own in hotels of their choice closer to home. The companies include the likes of the Oberois, Taj and ITC amongst many others.

The institute boasts of a hundred percent placement record. The students who don't get placed are those who choose to go for higher studies or start businesses. The companies visiting the campus are numerous. There are Indian and international hotel chains like Starwood, ITC, Taj, Oberois, IHG.

Fees is not as much since its a government college. Private colleges charge exorbitantly high rates for the same course. The best of ingredients are obtained at a subsidised rate as the college falls under the central govt. The structure is available on the website. The fees amounts to about 2.3 lac but you might want to enquire about any editions.

Yes, Scholarships is given by college . No loan facility here. Meritorious students get a lot of advantage. The girl standing first in my year had all her fee waved off. Plus, she got several lakh in scholarship. But that's got the ones who stand first.

The campus life is fun but in a disciplined sort of way. Hospitality demands you to carry yourself in a certain way, so yes you do enjoy yourself but its in a way that's starkly different from DU campuses. The functions and events are when the maximum enjoyment happens. So make the most of them.

The hostel facilities are decent but don't hope for a lot. Its safe, it teaches you discipline. Hostel life is something worth experiencing and as a hosteler you have a better chance of getting involved in college activities. Some may call it a good thing. Some may disagree, but along the way, a lot of learning happens.

The industry is gilled with IHM pusa alumni. You need any help, just know the right people to reach out to, help will come to you most definitely. They are your guides, your mentors and protectors. Learn from them and you'll have bonds for a lifetime.

The programme is indeed very physically demanding but exciting and nothing that is not do able. The kitchen on the days of practical exams feels like master chief episode. The assessments and assignments are often. Labs comprise most of the week's first half schedule. The tests are usually very basic and exams are hard to fail, its that easy.

Like the title reads, if you want to learn something the best way, IHM PUSA is the place to be. The teachers are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. A lot of learning will happen but of course only if you're planning on meeting them half way. The lecturers are well qualified with good experiences in their fields.
