Remarks

It is a best place to study academecally. however, because of the geographical location and connectivity, its not the first choice of many companies.

Entrance Preview

I took IIT JEE and scored 352 rank. I wanted to select for a department among Computer Science, Electrical and Mechanical. I was eligible for Electrical Engineering in IIT Kanpur hence went with it.

Course Curriculum Overview

Curriculam is as follows: 1st year - General courses about electrical, computer science, Physics, Maths and chemistry and HSS, which are mandatory for every student 2nd Year - Physics, Maths and HSS courses continue and 3-4 departmental courses are offered3-4 th year - Specilized subject like power , electornics, communication, VLSI are offered.

Internships Opportunities

Industrial Internship is a bit difficult and not many core companies participated for the internship. Stipend varies from 20k to 100k Rs. per month for a duration of 2-3 months.

Placement Experience

Overall Placement is good considering various profiles, but core profiles did not get much companies to apply for. Consulting and Management profiles have a good number of placements.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible, being government college, its as cheap as it can get. Semester fees is around 40k including hostel fees. Mess fees costs around 1000 per month.

Multiple scholarships are available. One is Merit-cum-Means scholarship which is around 24000 Rs per year.

IIT Kanpur has one of the best college cultures in India. Multiple extracurricular events varying between cultural, sports and technology and on multiple levels - intra-hostel, Inter-college are going around almost every month.

Each course has different grade structure divided into quizzes, assignments, projects, mid-semester exams (2) and end-semester exam spanned in one semester (5-6 months).

Placement Experience:

After 6 th semester you are eligible for campus placement. Many companies are comes likes Accenture, Cognizant, Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Cagegimini etc and they offer decent package. Highest package 3000000 and average package 400000 and profile offered as for company required. 80 percentage student get placement. Take a placement in good MNC company.

Actually I didn't research on the placement. But in college campus I saw many boards of placed students and the average package is around 4-4.5lakh per annum.and college data says about 90%of students are placed. I am preparing for both off-campus and on campus placement.

Placement Experience:

Our college offer good placement it has average placement of 11 Lpa. Highest package of 52 lpa in Google. There are many company like TCS, L&T, GOOGLE, MICROSOFT, IBM and many more visited our college. If you have CGPA greater than 7 then you are eligible for maximum placement drive. My plan is to get government job.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I want to be a software developer. The faculty are very kind and helpful. Almost every faculty member has completed there post-graduation from various established colleges. The examination scheme is a little bit slow here. Students can pass their semester exams if they are paying at least 45 per cent of their concentration.

I choose this college becouse of its flexible acdemic structure and its great Alum connections. Also this is the best college i am getting according to my rank and my interest in mathematics. I have Applied for IIT delhi in electronics. IIT Delhi is also a great college but when it comes to academic focus IIT delhi lacks there. Also there faculty administratation is so strict. if a student wants to start something or he/she has a new iniative for the college , he/she will face hard time. So I couldn't make it to IIT Roper CSE branch because my jee adance rank is not that great for the Roper' Computer science. So the Admission process here at IITK is not difficult. You just the originaly document which you have submitted in your josa counselling portal and you need to verify it once here usually a couple opf hours work. I chose IIT Kanpur over othe rcooleges because of its academic reputation, research opportunities and strong alumini network. I was also able to get seats in other IITs but I preferred IIT Kanpur due to its legacy . I didn't face rejections, but did not opt for some colleges even after qualifying due to lower research output, weaker placement stats.
