My Experiences on Nazareth Margoschis College

Many IT-related subjects are provided in the course. Subjects like DBMS, Linux, Cloud Computing make you outperform most other candidates. A few irrelevant subjects may be removed from the course other than that the course is simply great. The staff methods of teaching are also great and they make use of technologies like projectors too. The internals are conducted once every two months and the timing is an hour and they are of intermediate difficulty.

Various tech companies like Icanio, Infotech, etc., have provided free internships to Computer Science students but they don't provide stipend for these interships. Computer Science students are assisted in Projects by the faculties mostly done by final year students. The faculties provide guidance to the students doing projects and are always available for any doubts and clearances.

I paid Rs.20,400/- in the first year ( Rs.10,200/- for each semester ) and Rs.1,500 as uniform fee. In the second year, I paid Rs.22,600/-( Rs.11,300/- for each semester ). In the final year, I'll be paying a fee of Rs.10,300 for each for the next two semesters. They charge around Rs.6,000/- as Tution fee for each semester. Since I'm a Computer Science student, I pay around Rs.4000/- as Lab fee for each semester. Scholarships include: Central government scholarships like SC,ST scholarships, Minority scholarships which provide around Rs.1,000 each month for the eligible students. State government scholarships like Tamil Pudhalvan scheme, Women's Right to Education scholarship which also provide around Rs.1,000 each month for the eligible students.

There's a freshers day for welcoming the new students admitted into our college usually conducted in the month of July. A farewell day to send off final year students on the month of March. Other occasional events like Chapel day, Pongal festival, Christmas festival, Sports Day are also held annually. A wide variety of books on History, Economics, Technology, Education, Accounting,etc., are available in the College library. There's too a seperate library for Computer Science subjects in the Computer Science Department. Technologies like Projector classes are also available. Various individual sports like Atheletics, and group sports like Football, Volleyball, Cricket are offered in the college. Social groups like NCC, NSS are well-known and participated by many students in the college.

I've also applied to Sadakathullah Appa College and St.Xaviers College. But didn't get the course I've opted for. I've applied too late in these colleges because I wanted to pursue Engineering in the first place. The admission process in my college includes the following steps: 1. Online application in the college's website. 2. Direct admission after acceptance of your application. The eligibility is just scoring a pass mark in the required course in 12th Board exams.

There are 4 faculties for 80 students. Thus, there is 1 faculty for 20 students in the Computer Science Department. The faculties are greatly motivating and easy to be approached. Ms. Paripoorana Caroline, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, our class mentor. She's such a talented and inspiring person and also cares very much for the students. Mrs. Vincila Evangeline, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, has a really good way of teaching. There are 3 Internal exams (each 20 marks) for each subject in a semester. There are of intermediate level. Only a few students fail to clear these exams. At the End of each semesters, the semester exams are conducted by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. Except for a few subjects, the course curriculum is almost 90% relevant.
