College review

NIE provides strong foundation to core subjects and offer specialization options in later semesters. The curriculum is comprehensive in terms of theoretical concepts, core subjects, essential skills and technical knowledge. Our college emphasise on core subjects but students may feel that more importance maybe given to industry relevant skill development . rigourous theoretical grounding helps the students prepare and study for even higher studies. Curriculum should be updated to stay in the fast growing technology in the industry. There should be more emphasis on problem solving through internship and industry visit.

The companies that come to hire itself provides internship with stipend. Students who get selected opt for it and do the internship and will be mostly converted into full time later depending on the quality of work.

Placements are pretty good @ NIE. There are many companies that come to hire students from our college. Almost everybody gets placed. Companies come to hire when the students are in the 6th semester every year. Almost 100 companies come to visit our college. Highest package last year was 48 lpa. Average package is 10lpa. 90% of the students get placed. My plans after getting a degree is work for 2 years in the company I get placed and maybe go for higher studies later.

Since I joined through kcet, tution or development fees is 99000 per year. For Students who joined through Comedk,their fees is around 250000 per year. As for management quota,depends on which course you take . My batchmate paid around 1200000 for ISE.

There is only one annual fest called the Technieks. This is held probably in the month of May every year. There are variety of books available in the library. Students usually refer to the book used by the faculty to teach . There is wifi facility in our campus. Projector is provided within each class. Many students participate in sports. Our college takes students to VTU level sports. There is different type of clubs in the campus . Onyx - the e-cell club, IEEE club, GDSC- coding club.

Room facilities are pretty good. Rooms are clean and washrooms are seperate outside the rooms. They clean it everyday. Meals are average .I would rate it 5/10. There is a portal of our college to pay all the fees. So hostel fees is also paid through it. I would say it's a bit too much money per year.

Firstly I did not get the course I wanted in many good Bangalore colleges. And Mysore city is beautiful to explore and spend my engineering life there. NIE had a very good reputation in karnataka. Placement opportunities are better than Bangalore because the strenght of this college is lesser compared to colleges in Bangalore. I came through kcet, in the second round of councelling I was alloted this college and I am happy about it . If I had got a better ranking in kcet, I would have loved to go to BMS or PES college in Bangalore.

Faculty to Students ratio is pretty good where sufficient faculty members are provided to teach the students. There is positive relationship between the students and faculty. There was one faculty who taught Math, Tejas sir. He was the best lecturer, did not make the class strict at all and taught very very well. We have 2internal exams and one external exam, we do have lab exams too. It's quite okay if we study well. Not difficult.
