CUSAT CAMPUS AND LIFE

The option to choose electives by the end of ninth semester attracted me . We get to choose from almost around 15 electives in the span of last semster and we get to learn what is relevant and what we want. The curriculam mandates us to have complusory moot experiencs and the college itself conducts in department moot competitions. Areas of improvement in course curriculam , what i would suggest is implementation of important subjects to be taught only in end semsters such as contract , family law , criminal law to be taught by ninth semster so that before we law students go into field as lawyers the most important sections and subject will be fresh and in mind for application .Exams are not too tough per say but requires proper through revision , ample time is given between exams fro revision.

Placements are offered at college and the placement coordination cell tirely worked in order to bring in repuated industry players. The tenth semester students where made eligible to sit for placements. Companies such as Infosys, Muthooth fin corp, legal ease came for recuritment drive. I joined for LLM after my graduation. Almost half of the students who sat for placement got job this year.

Fees structure is year wise , Rs.34100/- for general category students , Rs.112270/- for NRI Students, for SC/ST scategory students its Rs.1500 rs/- tution fee for GEN Rs.28170/-, NRI = Rs.56340/- caution fees for GEN and NRI are same Rs.1500 Refundable amount for NRI studentsRs. 50000/- There are no scholarships available

There are tons of programs in the campus , where sargam is the university art fest that is held every year . The university also goes for Inter University cultural fest followed by National fest as wee=ll , both in cultural event and sports. University also holds annual sports meet Astra every year .There is a univeristy main campus library which provided wide range of books. The student youth welfare departement makes intiatives for various clubs and workshops for students.

There are seperate hostel for girls and boys with maximum capacity of 3 inmates per room. The mess at each hostel is run by students , the student run mess is taking care by mess secreatary and mess committee formed for that particular month. Everyday non veg is available for one meal of the day. Hostel allotment is based on distance from home till hostel. There are plenty of PGs available outside University hostels as well .

I wrote KLEE(kerala law entrance examination) and i did crack it but i chose to go to School Of Legal studies because of its exposure and excellence. The admission process was basic , with an exam CAT then shortlisted candidates where called in fr interview and GD .

Faculty at school of legal studies and whole of the cochin university campus are well qualified and PHD holders.Faculty are extremely approachable and guide us through all stages of campus life , be it interal college aspects and after course matters. I love all my teachers equally as without their guidance and support couldnt be who i am now.There are total ten semesters and ten semester exams at the end of each semester.Internal exams for each subject is also conducted , out of three tests best of two is choosen. Number of students failing in exams are comparitively low , and some of them fail due to reasons such as sickness , accidents, family emergencies and not because of the lack of training at college. Internal exams are usually easier because it covers less portions and end semester exmas are usually hard.
