Likes
- The college infrastructure is the best thing I like about my college. It is quite huge with almost 4 blocks. One is for canteen and sports department. Another one is for science department and another one is being constructed and is almost completed.
- Issues related to attendance shortage are resolved Easily by providing grieving grievance cells for the students as well as the teachers keep extra classes. If there is a lot of attendance shortage among the majority of students
- The environment in the college is quite free. Teachers don’t pressure students to attend classes or the watchman doesn’t stop you from exiting the gate during the classes. Plus, it has a wide range of food outlets outside the college
Dislikes
- The quality of the teachers is quite plain. Although some experience teachers are good at their jobs, the new ones are most of the time clueless and mark you absent, even though you are present in class.
- Providing better parking facilities for the student vehicles would also be better in the basement for free because a fee of 3000 per year, just for parking is totally unnecessary and quite pricey
- Extra addition of subjects like electives, skill enhancement courses, and compulsory exams for these courses. Kind of make it hard to catch up With them, because we already are burden with assignments and exams of the course subjects as well as acti.
Course Curriculum Overview
The reason I chose this course was for international relations and influential Academic activities. The curriculum is very relevant to the contemporary world and brings out the world politics in a systematic manner highlighting the loopholes in the system of Not just India but other countries as well. The Journalism part can be improved by adding more fieldwork rather than writing work which can help us grasp the methods of mass communication. The internals are held within one or one & a half months of the start of the semester And each paper is set on a single day, and they're all back to back with holidays for a few subjects. The endsems are also provided with adequate time for students to prepare and study for the exams, which are a minimum of seven subjects.
Fees and Financial Aid
The phase of my first year in the course BA (journalism, international relations, and peace studies) was ?70,000 per year covering two semesters. Now, as I am in the second year, the fees has increased to ?74,000. Additionally, if you choose additional English as your language, there is an extra charge of ?12,000. but local languages like Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam are covered under the primary fees.
Campus Life
The most popular fest at our college is the Pratibha held mostly during the month of February. The first lasts for three days and covers Dance performance, DJ , Comedy skits As well as different food stalls put up by students as well as others. Another fest is swagath Which is basically a freshers day for the first years held during August Where is students dress up in fancy outfits to celebrate their first year. The library has access to a wide range of books and also has a digital library. The attendance can be easily tracked through the website, which shows the number of classes missed per day or overall. A wide range of sports facilities are provided like basketball court,football played in the field as well as table tennis. The student council comprising of the elected candidates is the largest student run social group and they manage the fest and events at the college.
Admission
I chose this college because my sister studied here as well as its location is close to my residence.The College too, I believe is reputed.I applied in Christ University as well because I did my PU there, but I failed to clear my online interview so my second option was Sju only. My interview at Christ was quite difficult and felt like my answers were correct, but they were further question into more until I couldn't answer. I also applied at the St Joseph's Law College, but didn't give the online interview as I changed my mind about the course. The admission process of our college is first online application, then if selected an interview through Google Meet Which will be sent to your mail and if you're successful in clearing the interview, you are supposed to pay the fees within the next 42 hours to claim your seat. However, there is no exam or entrance test as Far as I know in the humanity (BA) courses.
Faculty
The faculty ratio of the students to faculty is around hundred students per one teacher. The best faculties have to be Surya Sankar Sen Who was my political science teacher as well as the class mentor. He had a great vocabulary and insight on Greek politics. He was also a very kind teacher who could be approached by students for resolving issues with other teachers. Another one is Miss Harini Madhusuban Who taught us conflict and peace studies,a kind teacher who was very considerate of the students attendance and always remembered each and every students name. Another one of the teacher is my current international relations, teacher, Mr. Areesh Kumar Who is always pushing students towards the many opportunities of international conferences as well as paper presentations. A teacher, I didn't like would be Somaiah sir from political science department who got agitated quickly. There are two exams per semester. One is internals & Second is Endsems. And they're quite easy.
