What Students Say
Likes
- I liked the diverse crowd at our campus. Students from all over India and even from foreign countries study here providing a diverse Student strength. It helps in appreciating and understanding different cultures and also doesn't make feel one lonely
- I liked the infrastructure here. The identical white and red buildings all over the campus. The amenities provided are also very well maintained here like swimming pool, sports grounds, library, etc.
- I also like the fact that on every nook and corner there is a shop for the convenience of students for snacks or stationery. It saves do much time from going outside campus for everything.
Dislikes
- I disliked the fact that as it's a government university, the admission process and fees payment can be gruelling sometimes.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because it's linked to my interest in finance. The curriculum mostly focuses on theory aspect in my course and as most students after this opt for further studies, we don't need it to have real-world applications. The curriculum could be made more for practical knowledge rather than only focusing on the theoretical knowledge. Exams are held every 3 months and the difficulty level is not that much, so it's easily passable.
Placement Experience
After the 5th semester of our course, a students becomes eligible for campus placements in our university. Companies such as ICICI Bank and MakeMyTrip offered employment and the average package was 4-5 LPA. The highest package offered was of 7 lakh previous year and most of the students places had high CGPA to back their credibility. 30-40 % students were placed as most of them opt for higher studies. I also plan for further studies after my graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year wise fees for my course is 4000 per year approximately. It's very affordable for middle class students. There are various scholarships provided to students on the basis of income or their merit such as National scholarship, U.P. Scholarships, etc. For the course B.Com Hons. (FMM), the fees is just added 25000 per year as it's a special course offered at commerce faculty. The fees is stagnant from many years. So as of now it's not increasing. There are various quotas available for SC, ST and OBC too.
Campus Life
There are two annual fests held here on the occasion of Saraswati Pooja and janmastami in the months of February and August. IIT BHU also hosts a annual fest in the month of January. The BHU Central library is one of the biggest library in the whole asia, so there is a wide range of books and journals available in our library. The facilties and technology available in the classrooms here are also updated every now and then. There are various sports and extra curriculars offered to the students with necessary facilities to support them. There are also various student-run societies and clubs in the campus which increases the social interaction among students.
Hostel Facilities
The University has excellent hostel facilities for boys, girls, and international students. The premises of the hostel are student-friendly with excellent accommodation facilities. The rooms of the hostels are furnished, spacious, and clean, and the campus of the hostel is safe as wardens and security guards are present here round the clock. The hostellers are also facilitated with mess services that provide healthy, delicious, and a wide variety of food. The registration process for hostels is simple enough and the fees is also very affordable.
Admission
I applied to Delhi University and got confirmation too but chose Banaras Hindu University due to it's affordability for a student from middle class family. The admission process is done through CUET examination conducted by NTA and the eligibility is clearing 12th from a recognised board. The cutoffs for my course are also not very hard to clear and the admission process was easy too but as it's a government university it took more time than any other universities.
Faculty
The faculty and students relationship is very good here. We can approach our professors whenever we have any doubt and need guidance for our future. I liked most of my professors and because of their easy going nature, I was able to approach them for my doubts regarding my future. Some of the faculties i didn't like because they were not up for guiding me through my doubts and overall were somewhat conservative and rude. There are 6 semesters in my course and almost everyone passes the semester examination as the exam is not that difficult. The course curriculum is updated regularly, so the faculties remain updated.
