What Students Say
Likes
- The college campus is a very safe space. Inside campus and even while leaving campus student safety is always kept in mind. Ragging and harassment are very very few and there is always swift strict action against it.
- The hostel rooms while can be a little cramped. Have good quality and good AC for a comfortable stay. Functional lift and relatively clean washrooms also help.
- Infrastructure is not an issue at all it is mostly all state of the art. The buildings and classrooms are all very well equipped and will fulfill all the needs be it our curiosity or just academic.
Dislikes
- Campus in general has become very cramped. Due to massive intake in the past 2 years the number of students to campus size ratio has gone up too much.
- Food outlets and even basic essential shops in the campus although present are not nearly enough in number and are very expensive to be afforded by students. But students have no option but to avail this these service only.
- Placement cell isn't very transparent. while we know of placements, we don't find out officially immediately. it is usually via word of mouth. It would be better to have more transparency so we could prepare better.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is fairly balanced and comprehensive. The structure and evaluation structure has been borrowed from foreign countries. The subjects have no fluff all of them are important as a future computer science engineer. So it is organized and designed to be helpful in the real world application. While the grading and evalution is quite easy to understand I would suggest there to be a bit more transaprency and easy availability via college authorities so students can plan to spread their efforts better. Currently we need to be a bit curous and ask aorund the teachers individually to get the full infor The teaching methods are okay more or less. The timing and frequency of exams are quite nice too. They are well spaced out and in general aren't a big hassel.
Internships Opportunities
The college contantly will keep mailing you on the college official mail about several paid internships. It is your choice to take these by paying up and then getting certificates or not. THey are decent and offer some real industry exposure from good orgs like Infosys and IBM. Paid internships in the college can mostly be taken 3rd semester onwards that too whether via good performance in project showcases or peforming well in inernship/ training programs mentioned above. The final year is entirely centered around interships and projects. Here based on your projects and resume you can recieve very good internships both on campus and off. The college while is very supportive here it would be advisable to do your own research before acting.
Placement Experience
At Bennett students are elegible for campus placement from 7th semester onwards. Top companoes that visit campus include Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Deloitte with almost 200 companies coming to campus. In 2023 the highest package was 1.37Cr whcih was offered by google but average package stands around about of 8 LPA. MBA students also recieve an average package of about this much only. While the eleigibility criteria is wuite strict tied to your college attendance, exam proficiency and campus conduct, about 95% eligible students do get placed. My future plans after completing B.Tech involving entering the corporate ector or taking the enterpreneurship path. Leveraging Bennett's startup incubation ecotr called Bennett Hatchery is something that will help me in making that choice. This is another way many students are integrated into the corportate environemnt - via their own startups in Bennett hatchery or getting a job or internship in one of the student's start-ups.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee Structure- The annual tuition for the BTech CSE program starts at Rs.3,80,000 in the first year wth slight increase each year reaching Rs.4,00,000 in the 4th year. The total comes out to around Rs. 16,15,000. 1st year also require an additional registration fee of Rs.45,000. Scholarships- I recieved a 50% tutition only scholarship based on my SAT score. Now the scholarships are mainly provided based on SAT, JEE, CUET, Class XII board exam scores and Sports quotas All info is very clearly mentioned on the official website. Additional Fees- Rs. 30,000 refundable security deposit, Rs.12,000 examination fees per year. If ou wish to be a day scholar additional transport charges will apply if you avail the college buses. Hostel feels are Rs.1.50,000 per year for triple sharing which is the only option this year Financial Aid- The college offers assistance taking student loans. All information is again easily available on site. As for my friends most people have a 10% to 30% waiver.
Campus Life
The campus life is quite vibrant here. Annual and technical festivals happen regularly. The biggest even of the year is the Euphoria which happens typically in March. This year the guest for this event was Shaan. Technical events keep happening big and small scattered across the year. The library is immense with dedicated libraries for law and computer science. Books are always availale with serene reading places available in the libraires itself. Facilities and technologies in classrooms are all state of the art with samrt boards centralized AC good quality systems and biometric attendance machines. Sports facilities are widespread and immense too. With man large grounds anda dedicated sporting complex and swimming pool. Students can play sports like football, basketball, badminton, cricket, indoor games. The groups for all walks of life are always active. Be it technical or just social they are easy to join paritcipate in and be engaged for extracurricular involvement on campus.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are overall quite decent. The rooms have 24/7 centralized AC with temperature control maintained in all weathers. You will be provided with a bed, a cupboad and a table. You will not be allowed to bring electrical appliances like kettles and induction stoves however. These are prohinited. Meal quality in campus is fine. They try their best to maintain but due to a lot of students they arent always to do it. But variety is decent with 4 meals a day which cycles appprox again 1 week. Registration process is smooth given the number of students. You will arrive at the hostel and be allotted a room by the Warden and roommates either on preference or randomly if you have come alone. Girls and boys hostel are quite spaced apart but the mess for all students is common.
Admission
I applied to quite a few colleges like Amity University, Sharda University and Manipal University. Ig ot admitted into Manipal and Amity but I chose Bennett over them both because of the infrastructure campus environment and the 50% scholarship I was getting via my SAT score. That made it overall the most financiallly viable option. I did face rejection from BITS Pilani which was one of my top choices. But due to prior lack of preperation I couldn't perform well in the entrance exam and didnt meet the admission criteria. I had taken a drop previous year due to some confusion in my academix endevors which invloned me studying at EFLU for a semester as an English Honors student. The admission process in bennett was fairly straight forward. They checked my 12th marks, JEE marks and other relevant details. While JEE and Boards marks are what most students take admission on the basis of I preferred SAT because I had a score of 1530. After that I had a fairly smooth admission process.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is quite good in the college. Being a B.Tech CSE student I came across a healthy variety of teachers both good and mediocre which is to be expected in any college. But since all of them are P.Hd. they have pretty decent knowledge and are more or less always available for doubts or queries from students. The faculties I didnt like i will not mention by name but I will say that in the lecturers department the college is weakest. They are the ones that mostly fil to meet standards. The good faculty would are also many- One notable one is Dr. Vinay Shukla the Calculus teacher for 1st Sem. He was a great teacher. OTher teachers like Dr. Suyash Shukla who is the Lab Proff for 3rd Sem C++ is quite great. Many other teachers were also nice but I am forgetting some of their names. Exams are taken quite seriously here. It is necessary to maintain a 75% attendance to be eligible. And syllabus and couse completion is done on time more or less.
