B.Com morning review

The college is extremely professional in its dealings. There is no hint ever of any partiality among students. The only thing that could be better is mandatory attendance. There is no attendance requirement right now making college a fun stroll in the park for a few students.

Merit List

B.Com Honours is the most widely opted course post Class 12 for a commerce student. The curriculum includes projects on topics like EVS and mutual funds making it a combination of both practical and theoretical knowledge.

The placements take place post the 3rd year i.e. the final year. The placement opportunities are above par than the other colleges. The placements take place within the college campus itself with special interview and counseling classes.

The major event celebrated in college is Umang - an yearly fest of the college in which major colleges of Kolkata take part. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm and passion. Various events and competitions are organised all throughout the year.

The fee structure is approximately Rs. 40000/- yearly. It is feasible considering fees of other colleges. One is also awarded scholarship if he/she secures more than 90% in his/her Board Exams. Given the infrastructure, the fees is considered reasonable.

Scholarship is available for students securing above 90% in Class 12 Board Exams. Scholarship means 100% fees refund for 1st year and 80-90% scholarship in 2nd and 3rd year. Also upon good results in all 3 years, the entire fees is refunded

There is a separate sports arena built in the college consisting of table tennis board, snooker table, basketball-cum-volleyball arena. There is an elevated area with gates which is used in major college events.

The hostel infrastructure is A1 class and is located adjacent to the college. The area is premium Kolkata. All the facilities of a good hostel like geyser, air conditioner etc. are available. The hostel rooms are pretty big.

Senior students have always been helpful - whether it is with syllabus or guidance for event organisations. Being amongst the oldest colleges, BESC boasts of the best alumni network in Kolkata. It instantly brings a level of seriousness in a person's CV.

The exams take place half yearly by the college and yearly by the Calcutta university. 1st Division is considered as very good marks. In case of failing in any Honours subject, the degree is received only for general.

The admission process is based on merit list released by college. One has to apply in the college upon result of Class 12 Board Exams by paying a nominal application fee. Post that merit lists are released by college.
