Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum here in Yenepoya compared to other colleges affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University is very easier. Therefore it is a no brainer to chose these colleges. The bachelors degree with three years plus one year internship is not available in Kerala. If you are looking to have a career in this field you should have a bachelor's degree not a diploma. The hospital postings or training really does prepare us for real world applications. The teaching methods could improve from presentation reading to fun activities to learn and grow. The frequency of exams and cca up till the first year was very smooth. I am yet to experience the exams in second year.
Internships Opportunities
Internship is provided in the hospital in the fourth year. It is very good to understand the hospital process and dealing day to day stuff. There are no companies interested due to this course being a hospital based career. You can get placed as a staff in the hospital if you do very well in the internship and get recommended by the staff in the hospital. There is no stipend in the internship period but, the hostel fee is free during this period. There will be log book entering daily which is the daily task given.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly tuition fee - 120000 Yearly hostel fee 1st year - 60000 Yearly hostel fee 2nd year - 84000 Yearly hostel fee 3rd year - 84000 + 5% of 84000 Yearly hostel fee 4th year (internship) - free Total tuition fee - 598000 Caution deposit - 10000 Admission fee - 100000 Ramadan mess charge extra AC charge according to unit extra
Campus Life
My campus life is excellent. I am currently staying at the main campus in Deralakatte. Social life here is thriving due to the aesthetic campus with lot of place to sit and enjoy the evenings. You can enter the university team if you perform well in the inter college sports or arts. There is very good infrastructure for extracurricular activities with a world class 11s football ground, two artificial football turfs, indoor basketball ground, indoor badminton court and board games. There is inter collegiate sports held every year, cultural events, arts and a grand annual day. A world class library with lot of desktops is easily available for the students of Yenepoya.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are excellent. The facilities in the room include locker, fan, bed, cot, study table, chairs. Meal quality is decent most of the time including chicken four days of the week, egg one day of the week, vegetarian two days of the week. There is tea both black and milk tea, coffee every morning and evening with snack. Registration is quite simple which is done in the counselling process.
Admission
I was very late in taking admission. Since, Yenepoya was taking many students in partner hospitals I had no other choice of colleges. You have to take admission according to the completion of PUC exams here in Karnataka, only then will the admissions open. I took admission directly by calling to the university. But, there are other ways of taking admission through agents. I gave application to Father Mullers, NITTE , AJ institute. I did not get any confirmed admission as the seats were all full. I got a confirmed admission in NITTE but it was not for medical imaging technology but for radiotherapy. Yes I was rejected from all other colleges as I was late to take admission in all of them. I took tok long to take a decision on my future. There is only eligibility criteria but no entrance exams. The eligibility criteria is 70% in PCB subjects in 12th grade. NEET is required for MBBS seats and you have to have passed NEET exam.
Faculty
The faculties are very kind and easily approachable. The faculty to student ratio is very less. I like Swathi Mam and Joswitha Mam. They are very understandable and kind. I have no faculties that I don't like, but I have heard that Amitha Mam is very strict and takes small problems from your side to the very end of the course. In one semester, there is two internals and one finals. The average of the internals are taken for finals so, if you do well in your internals which is a bit easy if you prepare well you can pass the finals with average marks. The internals are easy as the evaluation is done by the faculty teaching the subject. The finals are comparatively tougher as the evaluation will be done by different faculties.
Other Applied Colleges
Father Muller College Allied Health Sciences | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Medical Imaging Technology)
Seats were full.
