Best college among the top colleges in the state. This college is not meant for fun purposes but to achieve good marks and goals. Today NIE stands in the band of 101 to 150 top engineering colleges in the country that include IITs and NITs as per the National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF-2017) announced by MHRD during April 2017.

Entrance Exam, Merit List

The course curriculum is lengthy in the first two semesters, it has all the subjects including Kannada and English. The first year is also a bit tough as it includes subjects from almost every engineering branch. The third semester is a lot about practicals and the fourth semester is almost theory, but it is easy. Our courses are carefully planned each year by the Heads of departments. The third is all about internships and the fourth year is fully project oriented. The fourth year will be easy as the college staff is more supportive than they are.

Our college provides internships starting from the 6th semester. We have to compulsorily complete at least 3 internships which might sound tough but it is done for our benefits. Many reputed companies including some startups are coming for internship selection to our college which has increased the rate of placement.

The placement and job opportunities are getting better every semester. Placements are good at NIE. Placements start for you right after you finish the 3rd year and continues till the end of the final year. Almost 70–75 companies visit NIE including Cisco, Delloite, Mercedes Benz, SAP India, Walmart, JP Morgan, Toyota, Intuit, etc. Comparatively, NIE welcomes a number of companies than most of the colleges in Karnataka and gives potential employees to these companies. Placement depends on the batch itself (overall performance) and also on the senior batches. The creamy layer gets the package above 6–7lpa going up to 20lpa. Last year the highest package was 28.5lpa. The rest get placed with a decent package of 3–6 LPA.

NIE has one of the best Hi-Tech Fitness Centre for the use of students, staff and their families apart from Badminton, Basket Ball, Table Tennis, Wrestling, Judo, Gymnastics, Carrom, Chess facility. The labs are well equipped with contemporary technology and also the lab staff is well trained to help the students get familiar with the equipment.

The hostels have been recently renovated and also have a separate gym for the hostellers. The food is also good and the hostel also has a bakery for itself which also houses the basic items for daily chores.

There are a total of 3 distinct exams at NIE every semester to evaluate the student for his grades. The Student is evaluated according to a credits based system and SGPA and CGPA are calculated each semester to track the progress of the student.

The admission procedure is simple, I had to submit the 10th and 12th marks card and also my entrance exam marks. Then I paid the fees, for which I got a receipt. The process of admission takes a week and also we have to give our personal details to the college internal website. After the process is complete we get a message regarding the completion of the admission and college starts a week after that.

The faculty consists of new talent and old lecturers. The old faculty are a lot more experienced and have a lot of knowledge regarding the subject. The new faculty also is great and have a flood of information with them which is beneficial for the students.
