Remarks

There are a lot of things which need to change in our college started with being gender biased and then community/region biased. Also forcing boys and girls to sit separately in class and maligning girls if they sit next to boys or whatever they do. They demean and demoralize women in various ways and also support male chauvinism. But all in all with friends away from home and growing up with them in all aspects is fun too. College actually is a phase where we learn a lot, even though our college does demoralize it encourages students too.

Entrance Preview

Entrance Exam

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is pretty off the track because 80% of the things we learn in engineering is not required for placements. It's just subjected we do not require it at all. Like biology in 1st year. I mean why would we even need that. They miss out on pretty essentials and want us to develop them by ourselves.

Internships Opportunities

No. The college doesn't provide an internship. We're supposed to look for our own internships or training in our vacations or get ourselves enrolled in vocational courses. Our college expects us to learn and do everything on our own :)

Placement Experience

2.5

The placements in SRM is quite funny actually. Since all the four campus students travel to the main campus for placements drives. Even though SRM provides a 100% placement rate it's not exactly that. A lot of mass recruiters come and pick up students and there's a tier based system of companies where once if you get placed in one tier you cannot sit for any other company in that tier and you cannot sit for any other job application until it's double the salary. So it's pretty hard on students. But a lot of companies come to our college, and college conducts placement training. So yeah.

College Events

2.5

There are department symposiums and a cultural event of all the houses (which is pretty useless). Other than that they don't even let north Indians have a holiday on Holi, in fact playing Holi is forbidden and boys from the boys hostel were arrested for that. There's no Durga Puja Holidays. In Diwali, boys are allowed to play but girls' bags are checked so that they don't buy and burst crackers at all. There are Pongal holidays. And that's it. It's sad how they don't respect the north Indian celebrations.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Our fee structure is similar to the fee structure of any other engineering college just the hostel seems unnecessarily expensive due to the low maintenance and facilities and derogatory food in the mess. For management quota students, they pay a lot of tuition fees, some even have a difference of one lakh with my tuition fee.

Fees and Financial Aid

If you have a good rank, I am not quite sure about the exact number, but a friend of mine had a rank of 200 in the SRM entrance and now he's studying with a scholarship. I think this rule applies to all colleges to apply some scholarships to initial rank holders.

Campus Life

1.5

In our campus, there's very little exposure to these outdoor sports or activities or basically anything creative. Until and unless there's some department symposium coming up, nothing actually happens in college apart from studying or exams. There's like exams every month so we hardly get time to ourselves, to evolve.

Hostel Facilities

0.5

The hostel infrastructure is dilapidated and outright bad. There's a stupid curfew timing, dinner time is only till 8:30 at night. There's no proper protein in the food, it's all everything mixed with water. On days we've even found worms on chapattis. THEY HAVE INDIAN TOILETS. everywhere in every hostel. Even in the attached bathroom of the women's hostel. Indian toilets. It was disgusting and filthy to degrade the standards of living this way.

Alumni/Alumna

Our college doesn't have an alumni network. Our studying seniors or passouts were very very helpful to us, as I think we are to our juniors. Seniors have always been fun to hang around with and make successful events with or anything!

Exam Structure

There are 3 internals usually. Usually of 50,75 and 100 marks. Where each of them is scaled down to 10, 15 and 15 respectively. Each of that is added up to 40 marks and then a surprise test and quiz are 10 marks. So 50 internals. And semester paper(University paper ) of 100 marks is scaled to 50 and therefore that's how the results are printed.

Admission

Gave the entrance exam with PCM subjects. Waited for results and rank. I didn't qualify for the first counseling which happens in person on the main campus, because I didn't have the right rank. The second round of counseling, however, was online counseling where I easily got my stream of choice on this campus. The eligibility criteria were 65% min. in PCM average of 12th, which I cleared too. Post that, I came down to Chennai for the enrollment process where I submitted my documents and hostel forms. After which college admission procedure was complete.

Faculty

2

Our college faculty is like any other college faculty. Some of them put their heart into it, and some of them don't even care. The teacher's especially the female teachers go all out on girls to demean or demoralize them if they have even a slight wardrobe malfunction that nobody would even notice. In addition to other things south Indians especially local people are given a higher hand over north Indians here.

1.) Placement begins from the pre-final year and we are allowed to apply for companies from the final year. 2.) Around 70% of the class gets placed in reputed companies with an average CTC of 4-8 LPA. 3.) Along with core biotech companies, many IT companies are also hiring students at a very decent package. 4.) I plan to pursue a master's after this course.

There are many companies visiting the college where Infosys, Cognizant, Virtusa are the mass recruiters. The are many other companies like TCS, Wipro, Zoho etc. visiting the college placement drive. On overall 90% of students gets placed every year. The highest package of 25lakhs per annum was offered by amazon for 3 students. My plans after getting degree is to get placed in any of the company.
