Overall experience in Umeschandra college

The course offers numerous subjects and variety every year like in the first semester we learn about these subjects - Accounts, Economics, Principles and Practice of Management in business, English and also Constitution as a value added course

The names which offer placements are not rigid and listet anywhere. There are projects that colleges assign us like we made a project on Information Technology, Excel, Ratios in accounting etc this year.

It is a 4 year programme which offers placements. But if someone doesn't get direct placement they are still skilled enough to get a job off campus and it can go from 6 LPA to 12 LPA. If the performance is very poor they can't go to the 4th year.

As a 1st year student of Umeschandra college I can say that it is a overall good college which comes under Calcutta University that is the most reputed university of West Bengal. The fee structure of every year is 5,500 rs every year. We can also avail scholarship of 12000 every year under Vivekananda scholarship programme. It is totally based on merit the scholarship and admission into the college as well.

Campus life is good but it can be improved. The locality is not that good and it's a politically driven area which is why there's a lot of rallies and protests going on every month. The union group of college is very ill mannered.

Other colleges were good but the problem was either they were very far from my house, expensive or they didn't come under Calcutta University. Admission is totally based on merit and cut off usually is 50 to 60%. Anyone can get admission to this college easily with average performance in academics.

The faculty to students ratio is somewhere 2:100. The exam levels are moderate. The paper is set by the main university which is CU. The relationship between faculty and students is good faculties are very supportive and they encourage us in every aspect. Financial Accounting sir is very good overall.
