One of the best place for knowledge

I cherished every moment of studying at the Faculty Of Commerce at Banaras Hindu University. Course curriculum and Faculty couples with low fees are some of the key positives of this university. The only improvement point I can think of is if they can do something on the front of Career Counselling and Placement.

The course curriculum of the Bachelor Of Commerce course is very exhaustive wherein the student gets exposure to almost everything in Finance. There are projects, Viva and written exams that prepare you for the future.

There was no placement drive during the time I studied at the Faculty Of Commerce. There was no provision for the internship as well. I passed in 2008. I am not sure if they have now started anything on the front on Placement and Internship.

There used to be a lot of events which were celebrated in our college. In my tenure, there was Fresher’s party in the first year and then we also used to have Annual Fest. We also had a Farewell party in the last year. In Fresher’s party seniors perform for the newbies in college. At the Farewell Party, the juniors give a party to the seniors. In both Fresher’s and Farewell party, a lot of tags are given to the students like Mr & Miss Fresher.

Banaras Hindu University is funded by Central Government thus the fees us very minimal. Students from all walks of life can afford to study Banaras Hindu University. I think in the first year my fees were in the range of 1000-1200 and even less in the 2nd and 3rd year. Overall fees for 3 years course was less than Rs 3000.

As mentioned before in one of the questions above, Banaras Hindu University is funded by Central Government thus the fees were very less for B.Com (Hons.) course hence there was no scholarship program. I am also not aware if there was any loan facility considering the fewer fees.

There was a library in the Faculty of Commerce with all the relevant books and literature on Finance. Since it was Finance based faculty hence no labs were available. There were a lot of sports activities available at the University like Basket Ball, Football, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Carrom, Cricket, Volley Ball, Kabaddi and many more. There were inter and intra faculty tournaments as well.

The seniors were very helpful. They were ready to lend help to all the juniors in case they required any help. There was no culture of Ragging thus the First year students were very comfortable from Day 1. There was bo fear in approaching the seniors. We played together as well.

Faculty of my college was very experienced with very good knowledge of the subject they were teaching. They ensured that proper knowledge is being passed to the students. They were equally strict and supportive.
