A comprehensive look into MTech Integrated in VIT Vellore

Speaking of the MTech Integrated (5 years) curriculum, there are total 225 credits to be fullfiled out of which 200 credits are to be done as regular courses which may contain anyone of the Theory, Lab, Project components or a combination of multiple components. The main issue is that the majority of the courses are highly theoritical and will not have a Lab or Project component. this make the subject not at all useful as per the industy standards. Other than that, the courses will surely cover some to the latest technologies in the industry which we have to implement on our own. The lectures are 50 minutes long per class and lab sessions are 100 minutes per class. there will be multiple classes of same subject based on credits of a subject. There are internal exams called CAT 1 and CAT 2 filing 15 marks each in total. and other components 2 Assignments and 1 quiz fill remaining 30 marks to make a total of 60 for the internals.End semester FAT exam fill the 40 to mke it 100.

There are various companies that come for Summer Internships, Wintern Internships, and Long term Internships as well. few of the companies are Visa, Apple, Dell Intel, Nvidia, Signify, Stryker, Genesys, Continental and many more. the average stiphend is above 30,000 and some good ones even have 1L per month stiphend as well. the selection ratio is much less comapred to full time placements but also they mostly provide PPO.

For the Integrated MTech Branches, which are of 5 years - 10 semesters. the placement training will start form 8th semester and then the Companies come for the Internships and PPO from March month, the placements continue until August - September only for Internships. the Internship will be for 10 months approx in the 5th year. which is substituted for the Capestone project which was supposed to be done. people who didnt get internship will do Capestone project for the same duration and parallely appear for other Full time role placement oppertunities. The average CTC is aroung 7LPA to 9LPA. and upto 70% students go intetnships and 90% students are overall placed. The major comapnies that recruit are Intel, Dell, Nvidia, Nokia, Synopsys, Continetal, NetApp, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Accenture, Signify, Stryker, Marvel, Mediatek, Genesys and Caterpiller.

There are 3 categories of Tution fees in MTech Integrated Branches. 1st category has a fees of 1L per year. 2ns category has 1.59L per year and then the 3rd category has 2L per year fees. It will be the same for 3 years and then the remaining 2 years the fees will slightly increase by upto 5000 total. Other than this, the compulsory charges include admission fees of 50,000 and then the placement charges of 10,000. There will be scholarships for the top rankers in the acedamics of the college. each year top 10 students of the branch according to CGPA will be awarded some merit scholarship money.

The main Fests that happen in VIT are GraVITas and Riviera which happen in September and October last week. GraVITas is a Technical fest full of fun events like Competetions and Hackathons also various mix of fun and tech activities. Riviera is a Cultural fest that is very very prestigious to the Institute. there will be maximum enjoyment in these events and also various special celebrities come and perfom for the Proshows and Premium events. The library is open most of the hours and every day of the year. there are various technical, non technical, fiction, fantacy, and also self help book available to read and also to borrow for 2 weeks. Sports fecilities are available freely as well as in paid subscription for better infrastructure. they are highly accesable and great for refreshment.

There are many Hostel blocks for both Men and Women. Speaking of Mens Hostel, there are a large number of blocks from A to S & T latestly. all the blocks offer different type of rooms and furniture. which include 1/2/3/4/6/8 Bed AC/NAC and also Appartment /Delux /Normal rooms. they have thier respective fees and Normal higher bed room and also NAC have the lower fee. where as 2 Bed AC Apartment room is the best and costliest option available. speaking of the food, there are 4 options available Veg, non Veg, special and Paid Mess. which are self explanatory and Special/Paid mess are the costliest and best to opt for. Paid mess will allot 6000 per month credit to buy anything in a resturent style form the menu. There are different cateres who serve multiple types of mess and we can change within each other every other month. Chota Dhobi service is also available for laundry and the fees is included in the hostel fees. total of 44 washes with max 20 clothes is allowed.

I have applied to GITAM Visakhapatname for BTech in CSE. But, i have left that option as it not at all a good college and especially compared to a college like VIT Vellore. here, i am assured of the Placement oppertunities and also great peer group compared to that college.

There will be 70 studnets in a class per a single Lecturer. generally there will be total 7 subjects (flexible) per semester. There are some faculty who are very friendly and some have even helped me in research work and also have provided me continues guidence. Yet, some Faculty are egoistic and are a nightmare to handle. It is better to avoid such ones in the FFCS process where one can choose the faculty of their choice. The examination and the marks awarded are fully dependent on the faculty which will handle the subject. the group of faculty who handle same subject form a group and then prepare the question paper.
