Review on GSL Medical College

They give us a preparatory leave of almost 1 month or 40-50 days for us to prepare for the final mbbs professional exams for which they complete they syallabus on time or earlier which is beneficial for us.

All the final year students who pass in their final mbbs professional exams are qualified to do their internship in the same GSL General Hospital and a stipend is provided to the interns (house surgeons)

So you basically get into this college through NEET counseling and there are 3 categories based on your score in NEET. A cat , B cat and C cat and the fees varies in each category. For A category( govt seat) students ie students who got in through merit the Tuition fee is 15,000/- and the college fee is 40,000/- ( it is the same for all A,B and C categories) For B category students, who score average in NEET, the tuition fee is 12,00,000 lakh per annum when I joined and now it is 13,50,000 and the college fee is 40,000. For C category students, who score less than 350 in NEET , the tuition fee is 20,00,000 approx per annum and tuition fee is 40,000/- The fees will increase once in every 5 years

There are many competitions throughout the year dividing into academic, scientific and cultural. They will be 2 representatives from each batch for all three divisions. There will be singing competitions , dance competition, cooking competition, poetry competition etc . And a wide variety of sports are offered. It has 2 basketball Courts , 2 tennis courts. Cricket ground , volleyball court, indoor badminton court, and table tennis court etc.

Hostel rooms are very good. They are very comfortable. Both AC and non AC rooms are available. 3 shared rooms , 2 shared rooms and single rooms are available. All the rooms are provided with an attached washroom which are cleaned every 2-3 days. The rooms are also neatly sweeped and mopped every 2-3 days. Food is good and is provided by the brand Sodexo

In all the private medical colleges, GSL medical College is always in the top 3 , the first being NRI Medical College and 2nd being Asram Medical College. I opted GSL in my 1st option in counseling and got in my first round . I could have upgraded to Asram Medical College but I liked GSL after seeing it's infrastructure so I stayed.

The faculty are very nice. They are approachable and are quite knowledgeable. Especially during the 1st year when you have dissection there will be a prof for every 30 students in a table and they are friendly. Coming to exams , there will be part completion tests before every internal exam. And there will be 3 internal exam in which we have to secure 50% to pass. The 3rd internal is the prefinals. There is no semester system , only yearly exam conducted by the Andhra Pradesh board and it is actually difficult.
