Likes
- Teachers - Some of the professors are really good with their roles and mentor students when approached
- Clubs - The college has clubs for various domains like photography, coding, music etc
- Facilities - Most of the labs and classrooms have ACs
Dislikes
- A few of the teachers are really bad at their jobs
- If you're a daily commuter, then you'll have to deal with the large crowd in the private buses in the morning, and also on return sometimes which could be really tiring if you don't get a seat in the bus
- First year students are supposed to wear uniforms everyday, whereas 2nd year students and above have to, only on wednesdays
Course Curriculum Overview
Some things may seem outdated, but you can get your foundations set strong. And also I'd like to mention the fact that there are a few courses which seem very irrelevant. These include courses like human values, social credit and responsibility and some others. Nobody takes these subjects seriously and I personally feel it's a waste of time.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements in their 4th year of engineering. It's observed that many Japanese companies have visited the campus and have recruited the students from the college. Additionally, students have also been recruited by companies like HP, Accenture, Sony, Amazon and others.
Fees and Financial Aid
When I had joined NMAMIT, Karkala, back in 2022, the fee with scholarship was 1.2L and without was 2L. However, the fee was observed to have increased the following year for the new batch of first year students.
Campus Life
The main college event is called Incridea and is the most awaited event of the year. It is also open to students from other colleges. Popular celebrities and music artists often visit and perform during this event. The college has a lot of clubs for photography, art, coding, music, dance, etc
Admission
I had applied during the MIT's counseling process, had gotten a seat in MIT, bangalore. But it was a new branch and nobody around me knew much about the branch at that time. Parallelly, I had also secured a seat in ISE in NMAMIT, Karkala and hence went with the latter. NMAMIT has it's own entrance test called NUCAT which helps applicants get into the various engineering branches
Faculty
About the faculty: Some of the faculties are very approachable and some aren't. Starting from the first year, every student is assigned to a professor who acts as his/her mentor. The mentor helps his/her mentees with their projects and encourages them to participate in various events. About the exams: In a semester, there will be 2 main internal examinations conducted; MSE-1 and MSE-2. Those who couldn't get the passing marks during these 2 exams, are supposed to opt for MSE-3. This exam is also applicable for those who were absent for valid reasons. The difficulty of these exams depends on the person setting the paper.
