Likes
- Very Good and experienced faculty. This University has one of the best faculties. More than 5 Professors for all the subjects taught. JRs and SRs Aid in studies and conduct small group teachings to enhance our knowledge and interaction.
- Very good patient exposure and clinical practice available. The range of patients coming to the OPDs and wards is highly appreciable. Here in KGMC you can interact with wide variety of clinical scenarios.
- Very good atmosphere for overall growth. Variety of seminars and workshops are held throughout the year to increase our knowledge beyond our educational course. And almost every hostel has a very good mess offering good food.
Dislikes
- I would say a lot of patient load in OPD may make your day a little harder. It may be overwhelming to face such a huge crowd in OPDs and wards. Though it's not bad it's just a little tough.
- 3rd year hostels for girls students is not that up to the mark. Rooms are really small for double seater facility.
- Rural bond of 2 years needs to be fulfilled after the completion of MBBS course.
Course Curriculum Overview
Job security and development of character is what you can expect from this field. This curriculum is best suited for the real world application where it teaches us how to interact with people. Making us able to understand them as a human being. I think some aspects of the course are a little toxic that may be avoided. Exams are common part of the course. You can expect 2 exams per month. But the level of exam is easy and basic questions are asked.
Internships Opportunities
Compulsory internship of one year from KGMC for each and every MBBS graduate is required for further education. Stipened being ?13000 per month which may be raised in the near future. The one year internship is rotatory which means you are being posted in every branch of medical field to enchance and widen your experience.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for first year was ? 42,700. And from 2nd year onwards is ?30,900. Tution fees is ?18,000. The tution fees required depends on the admission category. It is 50% of ?18,000 for OBC /SC/ ST categories. The rest amount is same for all. Yearly scholarship is provided for OBC students for which 75% attendance is mandatory.
Campus Life
Here in KGMU our annual fest Rhapsody is organized each year by our senior batches with the involvement of faculty as well. Rhapsody is organized for a total of 3 days having dress code for each day. Variety of cultural events are there on the list for the fest. Also, annually a sports week is also organized involving Variety of games. Cricket, basketball, volleyball, badminton, race etc are few of the events taking place and not to forget the indoor games. Each and every room of our educational building has project and lecture theaters have a big LED screen for educational purpose. Labs are well equipped and in working conditions
Admission
I have applied to JIMPER Puducherry and KGMC only. I was selected in both But I have preferred KGMC over JIPMER. Jipmer being in south involves language and food barrier for me. And the distance is a little more from my hometown meerut. Hence I chose KGMC. Admission occurs via NEET ug examination. For a general candidate to secure a government college your all india rank must be below 22k.
Faculty
One of the best thing about KGMU is its wide range of Faculty available for students. A very rich and experienced Faculty is provided here for every subject. There are more or less 10 professors for every subject. They take your lecture classes. And Junior residents and Seniors resident are here to take small group teaching classes. Small group teaching boosts our knowledge of the lecture. Anatomy and physiology Faculties are very good and helpful in every way. JRs and SRs of each subject are very cooperative. I would say some faculties are little strict but that's for our own good. At the end they are always present for us. Exams are moderate level. Previous year questions being the most important for exams. Almost 5% fail to clear the exam out of the 250 students.
