Likes
- Its a very big college with lots of wildlife in it like deers, blackbucks, snakes etc. So i like it very much here being so close to nature.
- There are lots of different seminar and events that keep happening regularly which help us develop ourselves and we can also try out different things and explore ourselves.
- The academic and coding environment here is very good and my college is a very good place to build yourselves.
Dislikes
- The gender ratio here is like other engineering colleges only, its not very good.
- The first year hostel are very good but the hostels we get after that are not that good.
- Even though we are in the nirf rankings 1 college some of the infrastructure is not good.
Course Curriculum Overview
As i am in the first year only i can't talk about the course relevance. But the courses here are very good. They are neither easy nor tough. On my personal opinion i think they are relevant but as i mentioned before i am a first year student so i can't say much.
Internships Opportunities
We have lots of intership opportunities at iitm. We can become a intern as a software developer , a intern in finance sector and you can also do projects under professor and get internships under your professor.
Placement Experience
The are a lot of placement and internship opportunities at iit madras. The placements are very good as compared to other college as iitm is the nirf 1 college. My plans after getting the degree is to work in a tech or a finance filed.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tution fees to general students is 273000 for the whole first year it includes all the fees except the hostel fees. The hostel fees for the whole first year will be 73746 including mess fees. The mess fess is around 34000 the rest are the different hostel fees. I can't comment on the fees in the remaining 3 years as i am a fresher only. There are a lot of different types of scholarships available to help the students in need of it. There are lots of different criterias to get the scholarships.
Campus Life
There a lot of clubs and organization here at iit madras. There are a ton of different sports available here at iitm. Like cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, squash, swimming etc. You can explore every hobby and thing you wanted to try here at iitm.
Hostel Facilities
The first year hostels are very good. Each room has fan, bed, table and cupboard. The mess food is also good. I found the mess and hostel to be affordable as we get a lot of benefits in it at a affordable price.
Admission
I am in iit madras. To get admission in my college you have to get a good rank in jee mains and jee advanced. Then you have to fill josaa counseling and then you will be alloted a college. That how i got into iitm.
Faculty
There are two types of courses graded and non graded. Each branch have different no of graded and non graded courses and different branches have some common courses also. Now lets talk about the faculty at iit m. The faculties here are very knowledgeable but some of them don't teach very well. We have 2 quiz, midsem and end sem examinations.
