NIT Jamshedpur - A quick Tour

i am enrolled in civil engineering. the curriculum is well orgainesd with both theory and practical work . in morning shift we have our theory classes and after lunch break we go to lab for practicals. labs are well equipped with all necessary instrunments. thus the curriculum prepares us well for the real world applications of civil engineering also we got internship opportunity in our 3rd year that also gives us an edge to apply our learnings in real world projects and we got much to learn. placement opportunities are good approx 95% of students got their placements. exams are well timed and balanced with moderate difficulty level

students start getting internship opportunity from 5th semester. internship in core branches are lower than cse and ece Capillary, Black rock , Flipkart, Jusco, Jindal, Tata steel are some of the prominent recruiters for 6 month internships with an average of 50k per month for the roles of web developement, software developement, data analytics, data structure and algorithms, supply chain , management & finance

the placement is quite good here last year it was 93%. students become eligible for placements from their 7th semester some of the major companies are microsoft, tata steel, L&T, wipro, Atlassian, Google,Amazon,Paypal,Flipkart,Optum and many more companies from various sectors including tevhnology, engineering,data science, management,and finance. I am a sc candidate so i pay 88000 per year ( 44000 per sem ) it icludes - tution fee ( waived )-0 hostel fee - 30000 ( 15000 per sem ) mess fee - 34000 (17000 per sem ) institue fee - 24000 ( 12000 per sem) which includes transport, library, examination, digital campus , sports,cultral & technical activites and all other charges For genral and obc candidate tution fee - 125000 per year institue fee - 24000 per year hostel fee - 30000 per year mess fee - 34000 per year A one time payment of 20000 is paid by every students as caution money at the time of admission Scholarship all state and national level scholarship like nsp , e-kalyan , post matric scholarships are given to students also some scholarships are provided by the alumni of the institue like topper of every batch get all their expenses covered by the alumni and extra ordinary performance in sports also makes you eligible to get some scholarship by alumni of the institue

college life is good here full of enjoyment memories and many more . someof the major fests are OJASS ( annual technical fest ), Culfest ( annual cultural fest ) Urja ( annual sports fest ) all fests are of 3 days friday to sunday full of different activities and at night in every fest they arrange dj night where we enjoy the most Lirbrary is fully air conditioned and well equipped with all types of books and had a sufficient space . classrooms are also equipped with modern facilities like every room has a projector good lighting and also ac facilities there are digital classrooms also where placement drives are organised institute also provide a diverse range of sports facilities it takes part in all india inter nit sports competition last year this college host the all india inter nit chess table tennis and badminton competition . Some of the students run social group are Sankalp- students of this group had opened their sankalp centre in nearby slum areas where they go and teach students everyday NSS- a unit of National Service Scheme is also available here it organises different social works like blood donation cloth donation free health checkup and various other activities time to time Clubs 1. Entrepreneurship cell 2. Revanata- it works on solar cars 3. Drift Racing- it is for car racing 4. Phoenix- they works in the field of drone

all btech students are required to reside in the hostel only . rent and pg are not allowed . in first year you will get a room with two bed a table a chair a fan & a tubelight and also LAN and wifi facilities from second year onwards you get your single room food quality is average mess menu is also good like other colleges it maintain the standard of a balanced diet registration process for hostel is quiet easy you only have to pay the fees rest all is the burden of administration hostel is affordable 15000 per semester

i choose this college because of its placements recordsand distance from my hometown. this college has a good placement record in every branch and it is only 400km away from my hometown comparison with other colleges i applied for- i applied for nit patna, nit silchar and nit jamshedpur because at my rank in jee mains these were the colleges where i could get admission in first round i got nit silchar but it was away from my hometown thats why i slide and opt for this college also it has a good infrastruture and much space and growing entrepreurship environment than these colleges colleges were i got rejected- nit durgapur, nit suratkhal,nit trichy and all other top nit , these are the colleges were i could not get admission because my rank was lower than the cutoff of these colleges admission process to get into this college you will to give jee mains exam after result you will go for jossa councelling where you have choices to select colleges and offered courses. once you get the seat in jossa counselling you will be called by the college on a specific date where your biometric and document verification will be done after that you will pay the caution money and you are done. some seats are also filled by csab counselling which remain vacant after jossa counselling . cutoffs are moderate if you have rank lower than 50000 in jee main and you are obc candidate you will get a seat in civil engineering of nit jamshedpur and if you are sc st or pwd candidate you can get a seat upto 80k rank

faculty to student ratio is most probably 1:15 . most of the faculty are supportive and approachable whenever any students take initiative to take help they are there for them Favourite faculty member - All faculty members are good but i like most Dr.K.K.Sharma he teaches me design of concrete structures he is dedidated to his work and best Design profeesor of the institute like every institue there are some faculty members whose teaching methds are quite traditional which i dislike Exam Pattern- there are two exam in each semester one is mid semester which is of 30 marks and one is end sem which is of 50 marks and rest 20 marks is for internal assessment which depends on attendance, assignment and behaviour of student . mostly difficulty level of exam is moderate. you can easily get the passing mark by studying one night before the exam but if you want to score good you have to study hard. course is well organised and cover both core subjects and electives.
