- i like how they encourage my academic performance. they motivate me to excel in theory and practical aspect. my academic performance is reviewed monthly by the teaching faculties.
- the teaching faculty comprises of well experienced doctors who has a excellent teaching styles. the mode of teaching in theory classes is through PPTs , seminars and symposium. the practical classes provides hands on exposure
- the patient exposure is excellent and we are exposed to a wide varieties of medical cases. we also have exposure to different presentations of same cases which helps us expand our practical knowledge about it
Dislikes
- sports and art activities are less promoted compared to other colleges
- hostel rules are moderately strict for girls compared to boys
- internship duties are continuously longer making it slightly hectic
Course Curriculum Overview
MBBS is a course that receive high level of respect in the community. it provides a comprehensive knowledge of medical subjects. the oppurtunity to deal with real patients is fascinating. it enhances the problem solving and critical thinking required to diagnose and treat the patients.this course also helps me in narrowing down and choosing the specialty i want to pursue in the future. it provides many research oppurtunities. the frequency and timing of exams helps me in regular revision of subjects.
Internships Opportunities
internship is mandatory for 1 year in the hospital. it offers excellent hands on exposure. there is long working hours but the stipend is good. internships also helps us acquire many of the clinical skills required. we get to work with many if the experienced professionals. it is not associated with other companies and roles. crmi hostels are very close to the hospital.
Fees and Financial Aid
tuition fees- first year: 13,500/- second year: 6,960/- third year (part 1): 4810/- third year (part 2): 4810/- caution deposit: 11,000 in hostel student council fees: 13,500/- registration to MGR university: 1652/- lab fees: 500/- for 7.5% quota students in tamil nadu: no fee payment in hostel, tuition fee, mess fee scholarship option is available for first graduate from family, BC, MBC, SC, ST, for students not availing any scholarship with annual income < 2.5 lakh. scholarship is also available for All india quota students: Merit cum means scholarship: 15,000 federal bank scholarship of upto 1 lakh is also available
Campus Life
cultural programmes are held with different names every year around may month. it includes various functions like dances, songs, games tamil mandram program which emphasises the tradition of tamil nadu are held every yr around june month. hostel day is conducted around september pongal celebrations in january 15-18 there is a 10 hour functional air conditioned library from 8am- 7pm with wide variety of books from different authors. 4 lecture halls accomodating 180 members and a 400 member lecture hall is also available projector, speaker system is available sports ground for volleyball, cricket, badminton, football with adequate sports equipments are available student councils promote clubs which are not fully functional rightnow but is in the process of establishment
Hostel Facilities
each hostel room with ability to accomodate a maximum of 4 members with adequate windows cupboards, fan and light are available. hostel management is attentive to maintenance needs meal quality is good. no leftover foods are served. food is prepared right before the respective food timings.food is prepared with adequate hygiene registration process for hostel is simple and affordable 24 hour security for both ladies and gents hostel is available
Admission
I applied to all kerala govt colleges and some self finance colleges based on the ranking and most of the tamil nadu govt colleges. i got confirmed seat in amala institute of medical sciences in kerala. i chose this college based on affordability and patient exposure. admission procedure was conducted through national medical commission. both all india quota and state quota admissions are there. in my admission year, all india quota students witha mark range of 625- 635 in NEET exam was admitted in this college. in state general tamil nadu quota, a mark range of 515- 615 was admitted. SC/ST/Pwd students with mark range of 300 were also admitted. admission process is simpler
Faculty
faculty :student ratio is 1:5 they are very approachable and we maintain a good relationship. they are always available for clearing doubts. they actively assist us in patient examinations and provide valuable feedback, helping to refine our clinical skills & improve our examination techniques internal exams occur monthly based on the topics covered in the previous month. university exams are not semester based. its an yearly exam. university exams are cleared by 95% of students.
