Vivekananda College - The College you dream of or the the college that haunts your dreams

The course for political science is quite goood which attracted me at first to enroll in this college. It has quite a variety of chapters. Which are not the best at preparing me for real world applications but it's good for future competitive examinations like upsc,ssc,etc The areas that need improving would be actually preparing us for jobs based on political science rather than just competitive exams. Various jobs like policy analyst and such is based on political science but the course doesn't help to understand that side at all

Admission fees:-3,440 Total course fees:-17,840 Yearly fees:-4,460 Admission fees for honours in journalism is higher(arnd 4000) and all other arts honours admission fees are similar to political science

There were two fresers held for us one for the entire arts department and one for just the political science department. Except that there seems to be not much talk of any other festivals. The library is quite vast with extremely helpful books to help you through your studies The classrooms are pretty traditional just a chalkboard and teacher and rickety benches which might break with thw slightest push. There is not much sports played on campus we don't have a playground. There is a activity room with a tablr tennis board but it's rarely open I have not seen any student run social group or clubs yet everyone seems to just come to attend lectures and leave not much more activity than that

I applied to Behala college before this. It was the only college i applied to except vivekananda. I applied there so that i have a safe backup in case i don't get accepted here. I was accepted in behala college. But the standard of studies there is much lower. The courses have rarely any value. And it's known for having only the bottom of the barrel students studying there. The admission process is very simple for vivekananda You have to apply in the government portal which is west Bengal government's Website. You have to apply by giving your 10th and 12th marks by which the merit list will be made. No entrance exams are conducted for this college or any college under that portal. If you make it in the merit list a date will be given for document verification and then there you can talk to the teachers on when classes will be held and the routine

The faculties are veryyy approachable. There was not one person atleast in my department of political science that i found i couldn't approach or were rude. Other students from journalism and english have alsoo said the same. The exams are in February as I've heard from seniors There a project and viva before that which are not easy but not that hard either. It's moderate level and for the final exam as I've said syllabus is barely complete as most days classes are skipped by the teachers. Therefore the huge amt of syllabus will be a burden on the final days before exam which in turn will make the exam quite tough
