What Students Say
Likes
- I like the startup pre incubation centre, its very easy to get started with
- I like the importance given to mental health by the college, we have many counsellors.
- The placements are above average compared to rest of the colleges in India.
Dislikes
- The mess food is average in most of the messes, some are decent.
- Some faculties are very rude and straight up inhumane, dont take their classes
- The student welfare department does not support or stand for students welfare, you will be fined for small things
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum for BTECH computer science and engineering program is pretty generic and comparable to other universities and does not give much hands on experience, mostly theoretical concepts and knowledge only. I'd like it if they taught us how these things are incorporated in real world companies and how problems are solved.
Placement Experience
Placements are decent but they force you to join mass hiring company so they can keep their placements percentage high. Don't expect a high LPA package, but you will be guaranteed with a job after your degree. A lot of ppl go for higher education anyway so for them its not an issue.
Fees and Financial Aid
since I am an international student so the fees is 9000 USD per year for 4 years, the price is locked and will not be increased. The hostel fees is 3000-4500 usd depending which room we choose. For Indian students the fee ranges from 1.5 Lakhs to 6.5 lakhs per year.
Campus Life
Facilities and services are above average but the rules and college life is horrible especially for girls. The rules are very strict and you will be fined for every small thing which is very annoying and contributes to a significantly lower quality of campus life
Hostel Facilities
Desk, bed and wardrobe are provided, mess food can be good or bad depending on your mess supplier and the rooms are decent. 2 and 3 bed rooms are cramped to fit more students which is annoying. Also rules dont allow you to have kettle or iron box in the room which I find very inconvenient.
Admission
I only applied to VIT because this is a well known university around the world and has good rankings and relations with different international universities and would be really helpful when applying to foreign universities for offer education (I want to do masters abroad)
Faculty
There is one faculty per 70 students, most of them are nice and friendly but you will meet some rude and unprofessional people who will make your life hell, you can just drop the course and study it next semester. Most students pass all courses and its not very hard to pass but getting good grades is difficult because of relative grading
