Course Curriculum Overview
In terms of relevance, I find the course to not be as relevant as I had hoped for. I decide dto choose CSE plainly for the reason that I like computers. The curriculum definitely teaches you a lot but the bulk of real-life applicable skills that you need are going to be developed in your own time. The exams are frequent enough to the point where I don't wish to suggest any changes in their schedules.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are offered after 3rd sem and companies vary year to year. The type of companies offering internships varies from new start-ups to companies like Google. There is no such mandatory stipend so internships can range from unpaid to good paying ones.
Placement Experience
Placements of this college are decent and are on the uprise. Median packages are around 11 lakhs which is a decent number. Students become eligible for campus ppacements from 5th sem onwards and a lot of companies start visiting like Atlassian, Accenture, etc. The highest package that I know of through direct placements was 40 Lakhs. Around 86% students got placed in 2024 but the official results are not known yet. After my degree, I wish to further upskill myself and get a job in the field of AI.
Fees and Financial Aid
I enrolled into the college through COMEDK in general seat. My tuition fees for each year is 284100 and amounts to 11.2 Lakhs in 4 years. The 281400 includes 20000 of Lab fees yearly. They also take a registration fee marked as misc fees in the amount of 15470. The tuition fee is relatively lower for KCET seats and amounts to about 6 Lakhs total. Management fees for BE in Computer Science and Engineering is around 35-40 Lakhs. Hostel fee forbthe first year is 2.25 Lakhs and goes down to 1.9 Lakhs from 2nd year onwards. Financial aid for students is present in the form of merit-based scjolarship from 2nd year onwards.
Campus Life
Campus life in BMS is pretty good. Small events keep happening throughout the year with two major fests - PhaseShift(Tech fest) and Utsav(Cultural Fest). Both are very good fests with lots of engagement and activities and it is overall a wonderful experience. BMS library provides you with all required material that you need for your course aside from things even further ahead which is really good. The library, or rather thr college itself is pretty well equipped tech-wise. BMS also emphasises on sports and has various teams that have good regular practice. Clubs are given lots of importance at BMS and there are a large number of interesting clubs in the college. They organise activities and events regularly which is a very big plus.
Admission
I applied to colleges like RVCE, DSCE, BITS, PES and MS Ramaiah but I was rejected by RVCE and BITS due to cutoffs. Among the others, I felt like BMS was the best option and my opinion on that has not changed. Admission process through COMEDK was straightforward. After locking ny seat, I had to report to the college, fill in the paperwork and pay the misc fees. That was all. COMEDK is pretty easy and I would recommend that as the mode for admission into BMS instead of others like JEE or KCET.
Faculty
Faculty to Student ratio depends on the subject. It csn be as low as 70:1 or as high as 14:1. There's lots of good faculty in BMSCE but there are also some with a language barrier/knowledge barrier. There are 3 CIE exams(2 mandatory) in a semester and one Semester End Exam.they are not very easy but they aren't too difficult. Constant and regular study is required to clear them. Course curriculum is about as relevant as any other conventional curriculum.
